hell i wash my engine with water. just drain all the oil out, put the garden hose in the oil fill and turn the water on! run the engine full of water for about 10 minutes, drain and fill back up with oil! if i wanna get it really clean i use a little dish soap! your engine is just like a washing machine!

seriously +1 for not putting a towel on your manifold. i like a clean engine bay too but it's gonna rust just from moisture in the air.

There's a heat shield over the exhaust mani. I don't think mitsu engineers would put a hole on the hood and not think about rain or snow. Live and learn.

Was running around and all the sudden i see smoke coming from the hood, followed a couple seconds later by flames... popped the hood, luckily i had a water bottle doused the flames out, ripped the towel off, multiple various wires were burnt but not to the point of breaking, one injector harness was partially melted, the spark plug cover is DONE as is part of the cam gear cover. the car still ran afterwards but obvously with a cel and felt as if it was in limp mode, I got it to MITSU, luckily they weren't far and now I'm without my baby and I'm kicking myself for being such a complete idiot. I have an safc in the mail on the way. I told the service manager not to worry about the spark plug and cam cover and stuff, as I'll just get some kinda aftermarket one and if the injector that burnt needs replaced I'm probably just gonna get some aftermarket ones in there. Can I run larger injectors without prior tuning just to drive my car home real quick so i can install the safc and tune for it? Thanks guys I'm really bummed out right now and my grammar has sucked in this message because I'm furious and typing reallyyyyy fast. Thanks guys and hope this isn't gonna set me back too much cash!
You're not an idiot because of the towel incident. You became an idiot the moment you plunked down cash on an Evolution.

Ok, just kidding.

Hey man, we've all done dumb stuff before. It happens. It just so happens that you did it, and "got burned."

Be glad your car's not real damaged. And at least your hood isn't warped, or if it is, I didn't see you mention it.

Use the correct form of you're.
BURN!!! i love it when people flame others grammer and make an idiot of themselves with there lack of.

easy thing to do, at least those fuel lines did not catch. i am always nervous about sprayin that vent at the wash. a guy i know had NOS on his BASE 199? camaro. the NOS got it too hot and the fuel lines broke spraying the engine and igniting the whole thing. needles to say he now drives an accord.

Ok, i drained all my oil out and washed it out. But now my engine light comes on and my car doesnt drive right. It feels weak and the engine doesnt sound right. I used hand soap instead of dish soap. Do you think this is the problem? If so I can run and get more oil and change it again. Please help!!!

putting a towel under the hood so water doesnt get on your manifold is rediculous....there is no reason for it

but hope you dont end up dropping to much cash to fix the car.
