Why is it that nobody seems to like MIVEC?

Anyhow, FWIW, I like the VIII. I ran into AndyBandy today (hung out for about an hour), and parked the cars next to eachother just to compare.

I definitely like the aggressive look of the Evo's front clip. It looks pure menacing coming up behind you. Funny though, because Andy said the same thing about the STi.

It's amazing how much larger the STi looks than the Evo when sitting side by side, and how UNaggressive the STi looks next to it. I've never actually had the opportunity to check both cars out sitting next to eachother until today.

Well, I'm getting off the beaten path here. I'd have to see the IX and VIII next to eachother to make my final decision on which one I prefer.

The EVO is an ugly car. Always has been. The 9 looks better in person. I do think the 8's wing is cooler, more interesting with the carbon on the sides.

i just wanted to see if i stood alone on this so post up

Since when is the Evo ugly? Granted, the first few VERY EARLY models were pretty ugly, but around the V or VI, I think they started to become really aggressive looking.

I don't find the Evo to be a "beautiful" car by any means, but I don't think it's ugly. Just like the STi, I think the Evo looks "purposeful." It looks very "athletic."

ugly or not, i do not think the IX is enough of a departure from the way the VIII looks. IT seems that Mitsu figured they needed this style around for a few more years in order to create a time space long enough to develop the X. In the past, Evo's usually had a major update every three years. the VII, VIII and IX will be the longest lasting "similair looking of the series. The hell with it, I will keep my ugly VIII and wait for the real change with the X.

The IX may be a tad more sophisticated mechanically, but I find the VIII more appealing visually in that it's more aggressive-looking (in the front and the rear). If I didn't already own an VIII I would still try to get one over the IX for that reason. But preference is subjective.

The 9's seats are 4x better than the 8's(non ssl), carbon fiber dash doesnt look cheap at all, actually looks good, it adds sumthing different and cool to the interior. ima have to agree with the all fiberglass wing, deffinetly a dowgrade from the 8. wheels, they dont look as bad as u think, when u actually see them, u'll want them. mivec should be a +, but that hasnt really been determined. just my .02
actually. the evo 9's wing is still all carbon fiber, it's just that mitsubishi decided to cover up the side with some color match thing over it to make it much, much "cleaner". it's also a way of identifying the evo 9.

I am definately with you honni, i completely agree.

Negatives: The stock 9 front looks like some cheap accolade (no offense) tkae off of the gallia front bumper in my opinion. I looked at the evo 9 wing and it definately seems less rigid. When minor pressure is applied on the side "caps" of the wing, the whole wing almost bends or shifts in the direction of the pressure, it seemed quite flimsy. I think the lack of the inner bolts and the fiberglass replacing the CF has something to do with this.
The wheels look very bland and cheap also

Neutral: i think there are ups and downs to the mivec. In MY opinion, i see mitsu straying away from the notorious 4g63. This major change might have some major drawbacks, but possibly the opposite.

Positives: Painted head and taillights, love em.....and thats about it for positives

The one thing i like and wish the US 9 had is the JDM rear bumper, DAMN, that diffuser compliments the car amazingly....but of course the US spec lacks it

if what AZNFLIP says is true (which i am highly doubting) then those damn inner bolts do a LOT for the rigidity of the wing. i pushed on my spoiler, the 9s, my spoiler, the 9s, and everytime the 9 had some significant bend to it. I dont know about it just "being painted" i guess some one might have to wetsand it down and see if theres CF underneath

saw one for the first time finally at HIN,,,, front is equal to evo 8 in my opinion.I dunno but I notice the front headlights on evo 9 are a bit darker, the chrome part seems to have a darker look to it but still not black out...correct me on this one guys...
