First try to bed your brake pads in. Search on the forums on how to do this. If that does not fix the problems your rotor is warped. You may need to either have them turned (shaved) or just get them replaced.

I haven't seen it done, but mostly I seem to have "resurfacing" referred to as grinding. I'm quite familier with lathes and so on, I wouldn't think you get a good enough surface with "turning" as in like on a lathe....??

Grinding would be a much better method and get you a better finish surely?

Hey, not to hijack this thread but I just brought my '03 in for some warranty work and had the same issue with the steering wheel at higher speeds. It definitely is warped rotors and fortunately they are replacing them under warranty. The thing is, the service guy at the dealership said I should have the brake pads replaced also (not under warranty tho) for about $325. First off, I know there are better aftermarkets for cheaper and I can do them myself, but my questions is, do you guys feel its usually mandatory to replace brake pads when you do a new set of rotors or can you get away with the same pads til it is actually time to replace them from wear?

New rotors means new pads. No question about it. Unless you can make absolutely certain that your old pads have even wear across them.

welp i took my car today to another local mechanic, actually got a good deal on "resurfacing" my rotors, paid $72 for front and back. boy what a difference braking is back the way i remember when i first bought the car new, no more shaking in the steering wheel.......problem solved. the mechanic said my rear rotors were warped pretty badly. i only have 20000 miles on my 03 evo. is anyone else having warped rotors w/ this mileage. i dont drive aggressively either????

mine got like that at 30K miles. same like you, the reason they arent feeling bad at lower speeds is because they arent that bad yet. on the highway though i could feel it when i applied the brakes. friend of mine works at a dealer so he took them off and got them in the lathe and they were slightly warped, both fronts. never autoXed the car, never got on them while wet, always drove and dried them before letting the car sit. never knew rotors could just warp for no reason, guess they can though.

Sounds like rotors to me, i'm having a bit of shaking my steering wheel recently. I'm probally just going to replace the rotors since I can get a good deal from a friend instead of resurfacing.
