That is a really good idea for the mail-in flash and mbc. How good is a manual boost controller though compared to an electronic one like the greddy profec b II. Should I just get a flash now and save up for an electronic boost controller?
When it says "up to 10,000" it means that he will raise as high as you want "up to" a maximum of 10,000rpm. I agree it is misleading.

90% of us use MBCs. They are less expensive, much easier to use, and very reliable. EBCs are still very nice, too, but cost more, require tuning and setup that can be difficult, and are more prone to breaking than MBCs. They also provide build-in digital boost gauges, though, so that's cool.

I'm sorry but if you cant afford a new "k&n air filter" why would you even buy this car. I still laugh at that statment "used k&n air filter". I buy lots of stuff used but a filter is where I would draw the line.

http://www.automotosports.com/evo_intake.asp 60.00 bucks isnt that much do some more work around the house.

Well I would agree with most in this suggestion about getting a MBC. Manuals are so much easier to use. Electronic boost controllers can be a pain and setting the correct boost can be much harder. Problems consistantly happen with the Greddy unit. You need to raise your boost. Then I would begin saving your money toward an exhaust and tuning.

yea i agree warrtalon def. is one of the most knowledgable people about the evo in this community...im starting to learn from him...my first mods Hallman MBC, Boost Gauge!! Next = o2 housing, 3" dp, 3" cat delete, 3" catback, intake, bov, and dynoflash (saving up so i can buy all at once)

and to the starter of this thread...id say MBC and Boost gauge for now with ur budget...dont get a dynoflash yet cuz you havnt really done any power mods and correct me if im wrong but from what i have learned i think you have to send it back in for a reflash every time you add a new power mod or maybe not evey power mod but i think it depends on what power mod you do? I believe thats how it works...correct me if im wrong but hey if you think you will have the money later on down the rooad to send it back in then id say right now go with mbc, and flash...good luck

He already has a boost gauge, which is why we suggested an MBC and flash. His next mod would be an exhaust, which doesn't require a reflash, so he'd be better off with a flash+mbc, since that costs $300. He only has to worry about reflashing if he does cams down the road, but it doesn't sound like that will be anytime soon, since he is strapped for cash.

Also, some flash tuners offer a subscription service where you don't have to pay for a reflash if you buy additional parts from them.
