ACD Setting - snow?
ACD Setting - snow?
This is going to be my first winter in my MR. I just got some stock Evo wheels and I'm planning on ordering some LM-22 for them. Has anyone noticed any benenfit from using the Snow setting on their ACD? Everything I have read from test drives say they noticed no difference when testing on the street. So far I've just left it on Tarmac.
I would worry less about the ACD and more about what kind of tires you have on your car. Advans are no good in the snow. I would be scared to drive mine in conditions like that! It would also break my heart to see salt caked on its sides.

if you're pushing the car on a wet road you can definitely feel the difference in the 3 settings. On snow there is a noticable difference even when you're not pushing that hard. You won't hurt the car by running in snow mode on a dry road, it will just not optimize the center diff lockup rate for the current driving conditions.

Many may have or should have said search, but I am nice - Ill explain some. Greg K stated it well in his first post. But here is the breakdown: (These are the theoretical numbers, our cars can never go all FWD, the rear will always have some split of the power, but the computer ACD thinks like this)
Setting F R
Tarmac - 50/50
Gravel - 75/25
Snow - 100/00
The settings do work, I have have had my Evo for a winter now, and on the Advans at that (yes I am crazy, and I am not doing that again - all-season tires this round). But the car will behave closer to a FWD in the snow setting when you are in snow. Makes it easier to drive around, but it will understeer more.

Good for you....now, I am not going to flame you. But what does this have to do with ACD and snow?
Stick to the topic.
