leaning towards the evo9 mr. I had a subaru 2.5 rs old body styl befor the turbos were here, loved but thinking i want something else this time around. anyways my question is, How many years left do you think the evo 9 will be selling in the states, someone told me the 9 will be here for a good 3 years or so anyways, Even if the 10 we see in the pics makes it to production it will be in japan for a year or 2 befor it makes it state side.Is this true you think? i hope so, cuz i dont want to buy a 36,000 dollar car and have the body style change the following year. what do you guys think, will the Evo 10 be hear next year and should i hold off to see what thats like or should i not worry and just get an Mr cuz nothing better will come out here anytime soon?

the evo x will not be here before 2007 or 2008. you have at least 2+ years to enjoy the CT9A chassis (evo 9). also, waiting for the next best thing is never a good idea because you are losing time that could be spent enjoying your car. if the MR is what you want, i say go for it right now. it is an amazing car and the X shouldn't affect it. hell, most people here would give their arms and legs for an evo 6

You should also consider the fact that the X will be a completely different car. The engine, chassis, awd system, suspension is a complete new design. If you like the current car then just go for it, but if you're unsure then wait a couple of years. change isn't always a good thing...just ask BMW

The emoticon was just a little extra humor.
I'm happy with what I have, I've had my 05 VIII for less than 6 months.
I also like the IXs and Xs and that's fine. If I decide to upgrade later, I'll
get a IX if they offer them at 0%. Or wait a while for the X and let
Mitsubishi work the bugs out of the X.

As far as Looks the Evo is so much nicer looking but thats IMO.
As far a mechanical I would go for the IX it is so much more car for the money and if you get a gsr it is actually cheaper than the STI. Drive both and if the dealership wont let you ask some of your local Evo and Sti owners. I drove both and it was hands down for the Evo. Plus if you ever decide to modify it you wont be able to brake into the low 12's with out a turbo upgrade on the STI and it's harder to work on as well as to get into the 11's you need a stoker motor/ built block. Whereas the Stock turbo Evo's VIII's are running 11's all the time let alone the IX will be so much more capable with Mivec and the larger compressor housing and new wastegate and larger hot side 10.5.
But bottom line it's your money and your decision. Good luck!
