Redcloud has over 100k miles on his 03 Evo, and I believe 95k of those were on the same stock clutch. He also has a laundry list of mods that probably put him close to you in terms of power.

The answer to why your clutches are holding up is that you know how to drive properly, and you don't abuse your clutch often at racing events. You say it ran a 12.4 last week at the track, but I'm assuming you don't regularly track the car, and a 12.4 with 350whp probably didn't include much of a launch, if any.

 

I have 41k on my clutch as well. I've only been running a turbo back exhaust for about the last 4k though. I don't launch the car very often, but drive it like I stole it once it gets rolling. Clutch and transmission all still feel tight.

 

I only got 5K because my throw out bearing decided to crack in half.

 

There is a guy(slowcar) here in Tucson with stock clutch on his 03 Evo, he has 43000 miles but he never launches it though..

 

60k still on the stocker. knock on wood. having a devil of a time deciding if an ACT, Clutch Masters, or Exedy is in my future.

I would like to think that Recloud's car has most of the mileage done in the highway. The reason I am saying that is because 100k miles is a whole lot of miles for a car that is maybe 2.5 years old.. you know what I mean?

If that is the case(highway miles) I can see his clutch lasting a long time, still 100k miles is a benchmark to follow

Yes, definitely. He has a very long commute to/from work everyday, which is why he has so many miles. Even so, that means his clutch has gone 100k miles without wearing down. These may be highway miles, but he doesn't hesitate to make full use of his power; he's just not in stop'n'go traffic at stop lights all the time.

 

I have 43,500 miles stock clutch, I ran it about 7 times when it was stock at like 4000 miles pulled a 1.8 60ft on some all seasons but stank of clutch for like 3 days. I have since added power and I'm running 275awhp on a dynodynamics. I've been thinking about running it down the quarter I just don't have the money to fix it if it decides to go.

I'm still on stock clutch.....26K and counting.....

 

just passed 30K on my '04 with stock clutch. Stock everything else too for that matter.

 

I replaced mine at 41k on my 03, it had been slipping for a while but probably could have gotten a little more out of her.

 

I am paranoid mine is going to go.. Only have 11K on it.. Last evo made it only to 10K but i had lots of track events and let others drive it.. (And i know they smoked the clutch a few times)


Either way, i am worried this one is going to go.. I have noticed a little bit of shudder, but no slipping.. Guess i just get to wait it out.. Been thinking of replacing it with something better so i don't have to worry.

 

35k and counting. That includes teaching the wife to drive a manual and a few overly slipped launches.
