Just got my car back from the shop...
with a freakin' TRE tranny and an Exedy Cerametallic clutch!!!
I've only put 10 miles on it thus far, so no real impressions....
But the clutch feel is crazy...really springy.
Tranny feels smooth like butter...every gear engages super sweet. Doesn't feel like it wants to shift out of 5th once it's in....
Planning to drive a few hundred miles today, more impressions later!

Yeah, I've got 700-1000mi break in before I'm rough on it.
It's TRE's full TSB update and upgrade service, with a new first gear input shaft, reshaped teeth on 4th, and the new close-ration 5th gear from the '06 gearbox.
Clutch is the Exedy Cerametallic from Gruppe-s. Single plate, 4 puck disc.

So, I put 300 miles on it today...some more impressions....
-Shifting isn't much, if any less "notchy" than it was before. Moving the shifter from 1st-2nd-3rd-4th-5th still feels..well..notchy. Also, it doesn't feel like it wants to come out of 5th quite as easily as I'd like it to. getting it into R feels a bit stiff too.
But the shifting itself is great! (I know, confusing, huh?) I just mean that the car changes gears so easily...no more jumpyness when letting out the clutch, accelerating is smooth and it's so easy to put into whatever gear you want, at any RPM (I'm keeping the RPM's low for the first 1k miles.) Shifts are easier to make quicker.
Starting from a stop is a different ballgame now, thanks to the clutch. rev and slip like normal, but the clutch bogs the motor a lot more than it used to. I assume this is because the cerametallic material is grabbing a lot harder than the old organic stuff used to. bump the rpms up so the motor doesn't bog and the clutch gets chatter happy. Feels almost like the wheels spin, although I know that's not the case. I assume this is because clutch pressure isn't high, so the clutch grabs-lets go-grabs-lets go....it doesn't want to sorta grab and slip like the organic stuff did.
Is it ok to slip this clutch more than the organic clutch? I want to take it easy on it, but if I need to adjust my driving style, then I need to know what to do. Starting from a stop seems easier if I rev higher and slip more than I did with the organic clutch...

Clutch adjustment tips? The clutch right now engages pretty much right off the floor, with the last 1/4 of pedal travel feeling super loose, like it's not actually doing anything. Is that right?
