ok, so just took it out for a drive, cause i was being reassured everything was ok and i wanted to get some miles on the new clutch, nothing good came of this.

1) there are two different metal on metal noises, which if it was a loose heat shield, shouldn't it make the same noise everytime?

2) my 4th gear is ****ed. if i shift hard it works, but just casually shifting through the gears, 3rd to 4th grinds EVERY TIME. same down shifting from 5th. Also whenever i make a sharp turn, a noise comes from my front right wheel well, where problem #3 is

3) there is a hole in the fender well next to a pully, looks like it was designed to be removed to take off that pulley, however it wasn't replaced, and dirt and grime and causing my belt to whine

And Mitsubishi wonders why so many people hate them.

 

Why are you still driving that car?! Call roadside assitance and have it towed back to Carriage (unless Mitsu says take it somewhere else) and make them work things out.

 

i'm 300 miles from home at school with no alternate mode of transportation and i live off campus

 

So after talking w/ gears (thanks for all your help) it looks like this is the major problem. mz313376 is gl-4, they used 8 qts. That means they used it for the transfer case as well, which needs gl-5. Gears told me that after about 1 tank of gas the transfer case would start to burn up and whine and scream all the time. Exactly what my car is doing, and didn't start doing til i'd gone over 200 miles down 75. So pretty much my tc is ****ed, as well as my 4th gear synchro, i love incompitence

lol. at least you still are keeping your sense of humor. i was going to ask why they used so much oil. again though, i would write a certified letter or e-mail to the dealer asking him what they used for oil, how many qts, and what oil they changed, before you blow the whistle on them. right now the dealer only verbally admitted to using 8 qts. but you have no written conformation he did. we are also inferring he put the oil in the tc. even though you could have the oil analyzed to show it was incorrect, they could claim someone else changed it incorrectly. he needs to admit in writing somehow, that they changed the tc oil with gl-4. then you are okay. otherwise they could claim everything was fine until they put in a ACT per your instructions. then they could say you voided the warranty and the problem is b/c the ACT or the oil was changed by someone else. they have written proof the problem did not exist b4 the ACT and you have no proof they changed the tc oil out. so they could really screw you here. be carefull and only correspond in writing to them. anyways, g/l.

 

the service manager read off of the work write up where it has 8 qts listed.

 

mechanics are the dumbest people.

 

called the dealership, AGAIN. they keep insisting that the clutch is making the whining noise, the rattling is still the exhaust shield, and the grinding..... "ummm drive it for a week, it can only get better or worse" great advice eh?

someone help me! there is no way in hell that the clutch is making this much noise, at 50mph people i'm on the phone w/ can hear it. what should i do? I'm in such a bad way here

 

tell them to get it right or get you a new F"n EVO!!! Claim it a lemon and call it a day!! 05 here ya come! What a horror of a nightmare! I'd be so pissed if it were me
