another HORROR story

so i dropped my car off at carriage mitsubishi last thursday to get my wing replaced (faded) calipers replaced (faded) and synchros replaced. They get all the parts ordered and start work. In the mean while, i'm only 20 so they wouldn't give me a loaner car so i'm paying for a rental out of pocket, and 300 miles away at school. So tuesday i get a call... all the parts are in, however, mitsu sent the wrong first and second gear synchros.

Now when you have a synchro kit, how do you send 2 of the wrong ones? so i'm frustrated because now they say my car won't be done until monday, which means i have to miss a day of school. so i drive home friday and stop by on saturday. They had the transmission together w/ my new clutch installed (act2600). They are just working on the sunroof.

Now did anyone notice i didn't say a word to them about a problem w/ my sunroof? cause i wasn't having any issues w/ it. So they say it will be done monday morning. Monday morning rolls around and i give them a call, they have having trouble putting the sunroof back in, it will be around 5. Now i'm a lil pissed, cause something i did have a problem w/ is making me late, and if anyone has driven through atlanta at 5, you feel my pain.

So i go an pick up my car, and they tell me they broke the sunroof when they were trying to put it back in, but they will fix it when i come home for thanksgiving. this is just great, my perfectly good working sunroof is now broken. So i take off, and 1/2 mile later i turn around because i hear metal scraping. They forgot to adjust the front left heat shield.

I get down the road and stop to pump gass when i notice these two dents in my roof. Apparently when they had the head liner out someone messed up and popped two nobs into my roof, so now my roof has two dents in it. Well now i'm furious and call them up, service is closed for the night and i ask for the owner, of course he's busy and won't call me back. So about 200 miles down I-75, my tranny starts SCREAMING i mean it sounds like the emergency broadcast. I try slowing down and now it won't shift into 4th. SUPER

so i baby it home, tranny is screaming and metal on metal noises galore. I take it to the Valdosta Mistu dealer whom i've had issues w/ before to get a tech to ride with me. He does and just goes... what the hell did they do. So i call up Carriage and ask what kind of tranny fluid they used. Conversation is as follows:

me "hello, its me again, i was just wondering what tranny fluid you put in"
S.M "the one its supposed to have, its got its own part #"
me "can i get that?"
S.M "just tell them to fix it down there, i don't have time to pull the paperwork"
CLICK

so now i'm just laughing, service manager hung up on me. About 4 min later he calls back and says they used 8 qts of mz313376 (Diaqueen Super Multi Gear Oil) and hangs up. and that is my current situation. sorry for the LONG vent, but its been hell, i still love the evo, but mine may be leaving me soon, however i'm looking at buying an 04-05 if the dealership will buy mine back

why are good dealers so hard to find? if mitsubishi cracked down on them they could turn their image around.

sorry for your troubles buddy. glad you were laughing about it (i take it you're no stranger to stupid stuff happening to you, because that would have been my response). good luck and keep us posted.

And you wonder why mitsubishi is strugling so much. The evo is a great car, so the obviously have they ability to build a good car. But apparently there service just sucks!

wow you got to stay on their a$$es in situations like this. make sure you either find a new dealership or get everything fixed for free for what they did wrong, and while they do that, try to get a rental! it'll probably be a while

if/when my car goes back under the knife, i'm def. gonna ***** to get a loaner, regardless of my age, its ok for me to pay 25k for a car, but not get a loaner when it needs to be fixed? nope, not when you've already had 2 chances to fix it.

thats just to bad!! sorry to hear about all your problems, if i were you i'd get the name of the service manager and call mitsu's corperate number, and report him and the dealership, and if the do not fix your problems free of charge they will here from your attorney!!! you'll get results!!!

btw, i don't wanna scare you!! but do you have any performance mods done to your car? do you plan on getting cams in the future? if so please do yourself a major favor and don't put that act2600 clutch anywhere near your car!!! no offense but it's a pile of poo!! i've had one in my 03' for a while and hated it...if you up your rev limit the clutch has "big time" shift blockage issues!!!! anything above stock redline and your "not shifting"... not to mention it just does not have a good feel in general.. just a warning to ya!!

also, in the future, do not take your car to a dealership for anything unless it's absolutly nessesary.. i dont trust any dealership as far as i can throw them, not to mention(no offense to anyone here)but most of the technitions/mechanics at dealership dont know squat!!!

do your research man, and find a local tuner shop that does good work and you can trust!!!

yeah well i can't really tell w/ the clutch as it is... i don't really like the feel so far, there's no play, it engages very rough, take some pedal adjustment. Right now i'm more worried about the tranny, i'm thinking its got a lot to do with the fluids, they said they put 8 qts in, which the tranny only needs like 3... so who knows

Did they ever tell you why they were working on the sunroof? Reminds me of why we never go th Merchant's here anymore. My wife took our other car, Isuzu Troper, to them to replace the belts. After a few hours they call back and say the car needs new belts, we are like "no Sh*t, that's why it's there." Turns out they had two Troopers in there that day and did the wrong service on mine. They did a fliud and coolent change that they would not charge us for. Great except I've always used Mobil1 in all my vehicles and had changed it two weeks before. They did not want to have to dump the oil and spend the bucks for the synthetic but I pressed so they did. What I could not understand was that they said that the key for the other one worked in mine so the did not notice they had the wrong one. I'm like "Did you notice that they are different colors or that mine has a vanity plate?"
