I don't think you'll find a brand new Evo for $330 a month, unless you put some decent money donw. Good luck!

You're right about that. I got my STi for $31,000 and 1.9% over 72 mos. $11,000 down, and about $330/mo.

Right now he could probably get an 05 for what, about $26,000 out the door because the dealers will be trying to unload them. 05s normally run around $30,000, correct?

I seriously doubt someone could get one for that cheap. Unloading is one thing, but 26K OTD - come on. Not likely. It is still 2005 after all, its not like the cars are that old. And even if they were, that is waaay back of cost.

I'm hoping for 27k... I'm expecting 28k. I'm going to put 10k down, becuase I have it... and I'd like to keep the monthly payments low. 10k down... loan for 18k... over 5 years... with 2.9 interest = ~$330 monthly.

And I'm gonna call that dealer tomorrow... take a train down there and pick it up... if the price is decent (and if there isn't too much mileage on it).

EDIT: Actually I made a mistake up there. I was using a loan calculator that was figuring in the $1500 rebate already. But you don't get the rebate if you get the low APR deal. So payments might be closer to $360... unless I put more money down. We'll see.

Ya never know until you try. When new models come out, dealers want to clear the lots. With some twisting arms, you can get that car for $26,000. You might not walk out the door with it for $26,000 exact, and may get stuck with some taxes after the fact, but the price of the CAR could easily make it to the $26,000-$27,000 range.

Think about it. With most new cars you can negotiate within what, $2,500 of the price? Figure if that 05 stickers for $30,000, that's going to be $27,500 you walk away with the car for. Now, with the IX out, and with them being faster than the VIII, potential buyers are going to know that, and come in looking at IXs. IF they can get one of those potential IX buyers to settle for a VIII, they're going to make the price attractive.

Sinister, i'm not saying it can't happen, but it's highly unlikely. At luxurymotors.com they have 3-4 SSL EVO's for 29K that is a fair price. 26 OTD your full of crap end of story!! It's all internet here say and anyone who say's they bought a 05 EVO for 26-27K OTD with no down/trade in is LIEING. TTL will cost you over 1.25K that means they bought a new EVO for 24.75-25.75K?? Bullcrap!!

Read my post again. $26,000-$27,000 isn't unreasonable. You can probably walk out the door with an RS for the same amount. RSes were cheaper than the GSR by about $2,000.

And what's it matter if you trade anything? The price is still the price. You can call "bs," and moan and groan that I'm "LYING" and I'm "full of crap" all you like. The fact remains that the IX is out, and dealers are trying to get rid of left over VIIIs. When you buy a $30,000 car, you can get into that car for $27,500-$28,000. There's no reason that you can't get into a left over vehicle for $26,000-$27,000, especially one that is an outgoing model. You may have to twist arms, but you can get the deal.

Let me give you an example. A few years ago I helped my brother buy his new car. We found a 2002 Grand Prix GT with 6,000 miles on it, stickering at $20,000, and on "end of month sale" for $19,000. Brand new, it was a $25,000 car. The car was absolutely spotless, and loaded with everything, minus a sunroof. A lady traded the car in when the newly styled Grand Prix came out, and she probably took a major hit. There was nothing wrong with the car, and she just liked the new style. My brother and I got that car for $16,000. We put down $500, and traded in this major pile of crap 1992 Grand Prix for $500 (it wasn't even worth $500 in the condition). He ended up financing $15,000, and his payments were around $310/mo, at around 6.9%. Sure, it was a "used car," but this car had TWO oil changes. That was it. Talk about a steal. Had this been a newly styled model, it would've sold for much more of a premium. I never claimed to know it all, but I sold cars, and I do know this. For $26,000-$27,000, you can get into a 2005 Evo (add taxes/tags). By this time, your car has cost $26,000-$27,000, plus taxes/tags. That's about $26,500-$27,200, more or less. Correct?

And there's no reason to accuse me of being a "liar." I haven't disrespected you, and I'd appreciate the same courtesy in return.

I hear what you are saying and I would love this to be true... but I highly doubt I will get them down to 26k. Dealers are way more flexible with used cars than they are with new. And they are also more flexible when you have a trade-in because they can always try to re-sell the trade-in for a bit more, to cover the loss of the new car. If you are buying a used car with a trade in... you have a ton of flexibility and you could probably talk them down 5k easily.

The EVO VIII is still a desirable car... it's still a new car... and there are hardly any left in the country. It's an old model... but it's also kind of a rare deal, that I think a decent amount of people are trying to snap them up right now.

But I'm gonna try to go as low as I can... it can't hurt to try.

We're not talking about used Pontiacs, or Subarus or even Evo RS's.

The man wants a straight VIII GSR and they sticker for 31094. 26OTD is very highly unlikely. It doesn't matter what your brother got his Grand Am for. Comparing what you can buy a used domestic for, to any new premium import is rediculous.

I could have picked up and RS for under $25k before TTL in April when I bought my SSL. If you can find one around today I bet you could pick up an RS for about that if not better or a GSR for about $27k before TTL. It's all just speculation, but I know the deal I got back in April so what you are looking for is definitely possible. It's jsut a matter of findning the car you want at a dealer that is looking to deal.

2 weeks ago, Domiano Mitsubishi in Scranton, PA had 3 05's left. A red, yellow, and silver. Pretty sure they didn't have SSL.

Its about 300 miles from Boston.

You could always ship an evo across the country. I shipped an EVO from Cali to Maryland. Shipping was a little over $600. Actually picked the car up for 28K OTD. Brand new O5 w/ 4 miles on the odo. Just gotta look and be patient
