rs owners, do u miss abs?
In a word, NO. I use the car almost entirely on the racetrack. I probably brake just a little earlier than cars with ABS, but a smooth application of the brake works just fine. The RS is so much cheaper than other models (and better deals can be made on them too), giving up ABS is nothing to worry about IMHO.
well I don't have an Evo but I've driven with and without abs...the truth is abs is a safety feature...it's purpose is to prevent locking up the brakes and spinning...if you have ever driven a car without it, it isn't all that different...you just have to be aware of what you are doing...you can't just slam the brake pedal to the ground in a panic situation for it will be worse...hopefully that helps you a little bit...if you haven't NOT HAD abs find a buddy that has a vehicle without it and check it out...it's different but nothing crazy
I've been daily driving my rs since I bought it new. I have had not one single lock up or braking incident gone awry. I live in the nw as well and it does get icy and snowy from time to time but it really comes down to driving habits and behavior in bad conditions.

ABS weights ton. It will slow down my car. I don't want it in my car and I don't want to pay for it.
Only Things bothering me sometimes are power door locks and windows. But, I installed powerlocks on driver side for me to get in and out fast.

My '05 RS is a daily driver with almost 16k miles on it. I've never had a problem with the brakes locking up. Theoretically an Evo w/ABS will stop quicker than an RS, but realistically my RS still stops better, harder and quicker than 99% of the cars on the road. Just be carefull in the rain and use your head rather than instinctively slamming on the brakes in an emegency. This car has a huge contact patch so the lack of ABS will not be as pronounced as it might be on a Neon, Civic, Corollla or Cobalt.
I drive mine as a daily driver 8 months a year. On icy roads ABS would be great but I don't drive it in the winter. I don't miss ABS, if you are smooth on the pedal and have good rubber its no problem. I bought mine in December of last year right after Christmas for $1500 under invoice. For me a lower payment means more money for performance upgrades. I love my RS its awesome.
i love my RS, the ABS is not that necssary, like some one said above its your driving. when i got mine i was a lil scared about the fact that it didn't have it, but once you drive it you'll realize that you dont need it.
Bed the brakes properly when you first get the car, if not you may have one tire lock before the others. I traded driving an Elise with my RS the other driver just about flat spotted my tires not knowing the RS did not have abs. ABS is most important in large trucks.
