Every car that gets sold by a dealer in Australia is at the recommended sale price, or cheaper as the dealer is competing with the rival dealer in the next suburb/town. They may offer you no discount, like with the Evo, but they can't just add 5K to it either.
The only time you ever see markup is if some canny investor/scalper buys a limited edition vehicle as an investment, holds on to it until they are all sold out, and then puts a huge margin on it and screws the poor guy that really wanted the car but missed out. Thus, private sale.
I can't believe your dealers can get away with that - i'm sure it would violate our consumer code in Oz.
