How do you disable the door open warning bell?

Ok - I spent half an hour searching the site for this one and its driving me nuts.

I spent a couple of hours working inside the car this evening installing a boost guage and a fuel pump and taking care of some other bits that I wanted to get done and almost the entire time that I was working in there I had my iPod hooked up so that I'd have some tunes. So.... the doors are open, the keys are in and on and that stupid ding DING DING DING door open keys in the ignition bell is going off. Needless to say, I've had enough of that and dont care to hear it anymore!!

Anyone got a clue on how to disable it? I looked around under the dash near where I thought it was (interior fuse box area) and couldnt really figure out exactly where that little bugger lives. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

yeah, bring a radio outside or some headphones put them on, and listen to your ipod! is it that necessary to unplug it? do you want to permenantly disable them, or only temporarily?

Usually its in the owners manual. I mean call me crazy, but thats the place to find out mostly anything about your car. Not hating just helping.

I was hoping to disconnect it at a harness or at a location that would allow me to reconnect it later.

thanks.

Tape the door switch closed... there is a small little pushbutton inside the door frame that you push in when the door is closed. Just tape that little button closed and it will assume the door is closed. Hence, no more beeping.

you can't disable it unless you don't want interior lights or anything anymore.
It's part of the ETACS module and you kill a lot of other stuff.

Timzcat - is this module the red box that the interior fuse block is fixed to?

hrmm thats odd cuz all the vehicles my family has ever owned, had how to disable the door alarm in the manual. Maybe Mitsubish doesnt want ppl to do this, but I have done it for Rams, Durangos, Grand Cherokees, Lumina Vans, Neons, Intrepids. hrmmmmmmm

No that's for the sound for not wearing a seat belt while driving. If you want to temporarily have no sound just do what most people would do and tape the button within door jam so it will think it's closed. just my .02

it is not just a buzzer or tone- this is the computer that has several things in it- delayed exit, illumination when disarmed....this piece also "shuts down" electricity to the non vital parts of the car after a few minutes of nothing...

the service manuals are no help on it- I had to take it apart, and learn for myself.... the manuals show a piezo, from the circuit diagram- they dont show that it is a part on an integrated circuit board....
