yes, i have got it more than once.. people think, oohhh look at the car u drive, you must have money, like i tell them, no i dont have money, because i have this car..

 

Ha, ha, ha. I guess it is impressive to the 20 and under crowd. But everyone is like, "Oh he works for them, so he got a big discount on what looks like a common car with modifications." If they knew it was really a 30 grand car, most people would be like, you paid that much for a Lancer? WTF is so special about it?

 

i bought my evo and i have no money i worked all 50 hour weeks all summer, and i dont have a dime in the bank form it. It all went to car payments and modding. Now that im back to school im scrappin pennies to make my car payment.

But seriously, alot of younger people automatically think "rich" when somone is driving a car that cost more than 20k. I'm 19 and in no way consider me or my family "rich", but we can afford nice things. Now when I see an m3, m5, porsche, mercedes, saab, ect. , then the thought of wealth comes to mind. I don't think anyone here in the states would pay mitsubishi 40+ for a car.

damn man honestly if i was 16 and got an m5..i would call everyone on my cell, put a bulletin on myspace and such. i'd be at hollywood and vine just chilling outside the car lol.

top gears reviewed the car and the guy didnt really like it except for the m button which added 100hp instantly. everytime u start the car u have to set how hard u wanna drive it and such

They just think I am a spoiled kid, but they do not realize that I work a 40-50 work week to pay my bills.

 

Nope, people say "Why the hell did you buy that? A Mitsubishi?" " Why not a Corvette or something a Mistubishi". Not one person I know my age has said "Man nice car" they all think it is some grocery getter with a wing.

I'm older than 90% of this board I would guess....31 yrs old, so my demographic is much different. I imagine if I was early 20's or teens people would see it much differently.

 

Yeah i get that a lot, but is becasue one, EVO's in here (PR) are $36,000 and two, i look like i am 18, and i am 32...seriously guys....i looks so young that lots of times they ask me for ID when i try to buy cigs. , beer etc...

Sorry for going off topic for a bit here, but when i was EVO shopping, not one sales rep. took me seriously...so, i went and did everything myself...loan, insurance, etc....after a few days i went in shorts, a baseball cap and a t-shirt and just went to the first sales rep. i saw and i told him...i want this car....heres my info, go and start working on the paper work....i'll be back in a few hours...and drove her home when i got back to the dealer 2/3 hours later

OH, btw, I work my friggin patooty off for my EVO, and I live in an APT, rich people don't live in aptarments!!

I'm not broke, but damn near it, but it's worth it to me, I love this car and it's what i've always wanted.

 

Everyone just wonders why i paid 27.9k on a car that doesnt has manual locks, windows, and no stereo. Then I give them a ride and then they understand.

 

Im not sure if people think im rich. I guess tuners know that the car is expensive and out of mosts price range, but how many tuners are there compared to normal folks. Id actually say most dont take it seriously, just some punk kid with a loud exhaust. Oh-well no skin off my arss peo[ple can think what they will. Until I have a different car to drive everday im not rich.

 

I don't think a lot of people assume the Evo is a 30k+ car... Your average 3-series driver probably assumes that his car is significantly more costly.
