EVO 8 vs Zo6, who would win in an autocross?
Slightly off topic, but I can make my EVO understeer or oversteer at will
I've had more than a few people ask me how I get it to oversteer and the answer is tire pressure, driving style, and the LSD.

. 4WD is another problem, without a one-way diff up front you never have the anywhere close to the corner entry speed of the S2K because the engine braking is fking with the traction of your front wheels
(think traction circle). Think about it .................................................. .......................................continue. Now unlike the Evo the S2K doesn’t mask your inabilities as a driver and is hard to drive at the limit, but it's extremely maneuverable and doesn’t have much of an understeer problem. The lack of turbo lag and instant throttle response is just icing on the cake. Auto-x courses are generally small with few if any corners below 90 degrees and speeds that top out at 60 mph. So end the Evo's is going to get laid the pipe.
I'm only talking about auto-xing here; the track is a whole new ball game
.
Let me explain this to you......STOCK SUCKS HAIRY NUT SACKS
Alignment, Sway Bar, More Power, -----> death to S2K

Maybe you CA folks think those S2K's are so great because its sunshine and 70 degrees everyday. But move to a state where every other autocross is either wet or cold and you'll think twice about getting one of them there two seaters.
Not all autocrosses are low speed with tight turns. Most of them around here easily reach 70MPH and since most are organized by high end car clubs they are aimed at higher HP cars. Personally I see no fun in driving a high HP car in a 1 acre parking lot with a bunch of tight turns. That sounds too much like looking for a parking spot at the mall.
In the end I think the layout of the course is going to determine who wins or loses. The EVO crew could design an autocross to spank everying and the honda kiddies could make some tight and narrow course. Who cares! I would never be caught dead in a Honda.
If I wanted to drive tight little courses I'd just build a gixxer kart.
ANSWER = Z06

what about the open track challenge results from last year when all the z06s got their asses handed to them by an evo.. not saying that given a pro driver the z06 doesnt have alot more potential.. but who here is willing to bet they are a good enough driver to actually take advatange of the z06.. which doesnt inspire confidence like the evo. The evo communicates better, thus making the average driver better.

Every single "VS" thread in every single car forum I read end up turning into this stereotypical thread.
I really should think twice about clicking on them. anyways.
I auto-x here in Reno. I love watching vettes throttle steer through the apex while the STi's and EVO's sans swaybars push like bricks until the drivers unload the steering wheels, and lift a bit.

I guess I may have asked the question wrong because I never been to an autocross event and I thought it was all about handling but I figure there are too many variables to place int that question also..
Maybe I should have said what would handle better stock for stock?
