Whats up with these fake Japanese plates?
I saw a car with one of these on the front last night and I had to laugh at it.
The plate reads "NONAGA 98 SE 71-46". Ok... its fake - I get that part of it, but I'm still gonna rant about it.
There is NO such Japanese license plate for the following reasons:
1. There is NO registration area named "NONAGA" - there is Nagano (winter olympic city from a few years back) and the Kanji used on this plate is actually Nagano reversed - hence Nonaga... perhaps thats where they got it.
2. There is NO such vehicle class code as 98. 99 yes - but only on a forklift or similar vehicle like a farm tractor.
So.... for those of you who think you have got an authentic plate, think again. Granted, I can understand the logic of producing a plate that looks real, but isnt. If it were too realistic it might be considered counterfeit. Nevertheless - to me, its rather funny - er... stupid. My Japanese friends and I had a good laugh about this yesterday.
OK - I feel better now. Sorry to waste your time with this.

Some people think that kind of thing is cool, i'm sure that person didn't even know what the plate actually says, and if you were to ask them, they would probably just tell you that is some Japanese symbols.

So what's the vehicle class code for an Evo?? Oh, and what's the Kanji for Tarmac Black?

Well, if you are in Los Angeles, you would see this a lot more frequent and you would have laughed all day just to see people putting Japanese plates in front (front bumper or in front of the driver's side glass). Some maybe real as there are Japanese people in LA, but I would say most are fake as people in LA are JDM freaks.

I have the real plates, anyone has family in jail that can reproduce it...then we can get a group buy going.
I brought them back from okinawa, I had them on my skyline...I was supposed to turn them in before I brought the car to the U.S...but I told the motor vehicle place that I had an accident and they fell off...I think they fined me though (lol)

There is nothing fake about this plates, this is the information that you need to know about how they build and custom make these plates:Originally Posted by hashiriya

I have seen a lot of people driving Mercedes, BMW Porsche, Audis,Volkswagen etc etc driving European license plates, that is the same deal.
I have one myself and I can tell you this, I get complements every single day on the plates.

sorry - I know its a petty thing to be bothered by - but, look at it this way: if you lived in Japan and saw a Japanese guy driving a Camaro with fake US plates that read "Michigun" or "Carifornia" you'd be laughin at them for being silly. Originally Posted by daved

Go to engrish.com and tell me thats not funny.
Its just rare that we get to point the finger the other direction, I guess.I think the other point that I wanted to make is that there are many who purchase the Japanese knock off plates thinking that they are the real deal, and many websites sell them as "authentic". I dont want anyone to get scammed thinkin they got geniune number plates.

authentic style maybe. I know its all in good fun - it just strikes me as odd that the kanji is completely wrong and unrealistic.Originally Posted by fromWRXtoEVO

I see what you mean. People want to look cool, if you go overseas you will see that the americans (military stationed in Europe)try to buy used BMW, used Mercedes and Audis thinking that they are the ****, that they drive "expensive cars".
Some other americans (guess who) even put 20" rims in a 1983 BMW 318 or a 22" rims in a 1987 Mercedes 190 thinking that they are rap stars and that the European are going to turn their heads thinking WOW that must be 50cents or Michael Jordan.
It is all over the place man. Military guys that are stationed in Japan they tell you stories that they had a Nissan Skyline TT, a Nissan 300ZX TT, they try to impress you showing you pics of their rides. It is ridiculous!!
Same thing happens with(guess who) buying cheap *** 36" "gold looking" chains and collars imitating real Gold and imitating rappers. This is all over, everywhere you go...
My question to all of those guys is :
Why in the hell you did not buy a Nissan Skyline new here in the USA is you like it soo much or a Nissan 300ZX when they came out?
Sorry for the analogy that I used but I am not wrong man, that happens
