I guess it's like people who get asian charachter tattoos, you'd kind of have to take the parlor's word for it as to what it means. There are probably tons of American girls unwittingly walking around with "*****" or something bad in Japanese tattooed on their lower back

I don't know why this is even a topic to discuss...people are going to do what ever they want whether it actually JDM or not. The key thing is to decipher the real JDM freaks from the fake. What I'm mean by fake are the ones who are just in the scene because they think it's the "in" thing, not the ones who actually live and breathe this sh*t, know what I mean?

RE: skylines - I had two during my 12 years there - one '83 DR30 with the FJ20ET and one '86 R31 GTS with the RB20DET in it. fun times. I think I owned 15 different cars during my time there (not all at once of course).
RE: BMW & Mercs on Military installations: yep - seen plenty of them around. Of course, to put this in perspective, all one needs to do is look outside the gate to see Japanese going grocery shopping in new Beamers any day of the week.
Back to the number plate thing: it wouldnt bother me half as much if they werent blatently incorrect. I have seen a few Yokohama numbers around - thats rare in the U.S. - and as such gets a much better rating from me cause I know they're the real thing.
Ok, guess some Japanese people would do the same thing
Japanese selling US plates as well
so I think its a com-thing to do then...
wondering are those fake as well? as those japanese plates for sale on ebay?

Funny that the first plate on that page is English with the "Y" (US Forces Japan) Designator on it.
