The evo is a really fun car, but i think you should wait it out until you get a nice steady job.

lol, its your call, im 19 as well and am a full time college student. if you are planning on buying your evo brand new I WOULD NOT GET ONE. I bought mine used and only took out a loan for 16k and pay on an average at least $700 per month JUST for the evo 400 car payment, 200 insurance, 100 gas and royal purple. I can barely afford even this! i work basically a full time job now and find that it is an expensive car. i have paid for this all out of my pocket with no help, no cosigners even, all on my own. even my college, no scholorships. dont get me wrong. i love my evo to death. but paying for it is VERY VERY EXPENSIVE!!! good luck

VW is very expensive to maintain... especially the turbo d's!

I would tell him to wait... think of it as your graduation present!

for my GTi it's a little more then $2000 a year. i pay a grand every six months. i work full time at a real well paying job over the summer, so insurance isnt really a problem. i appreciate you guys giving me your honest opinion about the car. it was my original plan to get one after i graduated from school and i had a steady job. i guess its time to learn for the next two years!

Get it and if it's too much of a strain on you, sell it. I would wait untill spring time, too many people crash thier EVO's in the winter.

hmm, i'm 18 and lets just say...if i was soley on the car, my insurance a month would cost me more than my car payment..lol..right now my car with insurance payment is about 640...I go to college fulltime and work part-time...and just got a seasonal job so ill have two part-time to make some extra mula for goodies...but also..I dont pay for gas or living expensives...food...phone bills...so in a way..I guess you could say I'm spoiled..but I pay for most of the car atleast..

I call BS here on this one.....

2300/mo after tax is like earning a bit over $40K per year.

If I can find that kinda part time job, tell me where I can apply so that I can have more free time to drive my EVO
