First EVO Delivered on LI
First EVO Delivered on LI
I took delivery of my Evo this morning at 9:30AM from Wantagh Mitsubishi on Long Island.. I'll have more info for you guys later, with a driving impression and some pictures.. I can say that the car is nowhere near as harsh as my other car was.. Its actually a pleasant firm ride.. and the shifter is a little notchy, but after driving a 4 speed muscle car, its actually pleasant and precise.
I paid $2500 over MSRP, and truthfully, the tristate area is going to get gouged just like the West coast did.. I definitely made very little attempt to negotiate.. My second allocation car was going to be a huge pain to get, so I bit the bullet, and in doing that, I got the first car on the road here.. I did hear that Wantagh Mitsu may have at least 1 of cars still available.. Don't bother to negotiate the markup though if your interested they'll just tell you to go scratch... Ask for Alex, and say I sent you..
MalibuJack, I also live on LI and i have been told 3 different things from 3 different dealers. If you don't mind me asking, did you finance or lease your evo? I've been told that they aren't leasing and that it is going to be really hard to finance. What rates are you paying? I have a deposite down at another dealer and they said that everyone is buying the car outright and that no finance is available. Also, what insurance company do you go through and is it rediculous to insure. I'm 23 with a clean record and i can't find a quote. thanks and congrats

Ok.. Your best bet is to finance through a Credit Union.. you will likely have difficulties with banks. You can forget about a lease program through most dealers, though you could arrange your own lease through a bank, most leasors aren't too keen on taking back a car like this.. can you say BEAT ON?? Anyway, Try Wantagh Mitsubishi, ask for Alex (They may still have one or Two of their allocation still available) and tell him I sent you. In any case, The more you can put down, the more money a bank will be willing to lend. I put 10% down on the car. And from the dealer's perspective, I did buy my car outright because I did my own financing. However, The dealer I used did say they had ways of financing (creative financing) to accomodate most people. The only time you may have trouble is if you have a bankruptcy.. Just don't expect MSRP.. Nobody on LI is offering their cars at Retail.. And just so you know, you don't have to take anything you don't want.. BY LAW if you order a car a certain way, that is the way you get it.. If it shows, and they stick things on.. you can have them remove it, and you get it for the price that was agreed on.. I saw someone who said something about a "Rally Package" that was a bunch of crap that was stuck on, some of it came free with the car. and it was $3000.. Walk out of the place if they do that. If I were you, I'd wait for Second Allocation at MSRP, and take the time to find a good small bank, or credit union, and take as much as you can and put it into the accounts.. then wait a few weeks and apply for the loan. The more personal the treatment, the more likely they will do you a favor.
