so ive been in both not driven though he wont let me but the stis ride is more comfertable but after getting use to the evo the sti feels like ur not in a car....your really disconnected!!! u cant really feel anything and when ur taking corneres it feels like it wont turn....unlike the evo where is grabs the corners and goes!!! me personality if u want a car thats comfertable and u wanna keep it stock....sti is te was but if u want to drive ur car....get an evo! but the sti does get more attention from like zo6s and stuff and the evo realy doesnt what gives! and the evo gets attention form like people that are like wtf is that!!! lol thats awsome! lol but then u have to tell them its an evo and there like a what o? but yeah i say EVO over STI ANYDAY!!!
You are so correct with the disconnected part. I test drove both and that was the deciding factor for me. The Sti just feels more disconnected from the driver. Great car by the way but just doesnt have that edge.

They won't believe me. I had a sti before I picked up my IX and the sti just died after 20k miles, I only had the regular bolt ons and never abused it. It gave me problems up untill it died. I hope my evo ends up being more reliable than my sti......

motortrend only picked the sti because of price really, the evo was better looking and faster...

but wow, after seeing the side by side interior pictures, the sti is light years ahead in that category...

That pic of the new STi next to the new EVO made me realize something. The new STi would look a lot more aggressive if it lost the 3 section grill and had an angry, frowning face like the EVO.

For example:

thanks for the posts burningmoney... i hadn't seen those. Im amazed at how different some quarter mile times are. Someone on this forum ran a 12.89 or somethin with their evo9, while a magazine company can only run 13.3

regardless, I guess these cars are still closer than I thought

personally I think if the Evo VIII was ever just as good (or better) than the STi, the Evo 9 is blowing the STi away. Look at the Evo9 threads popping up, people making 270-300whp with minimal mods, not to mention that the Evo is already a great handling car, that Top Gear and many magazine publications have proven to be better (albeit not by a huge ammount).

Im not at all trying to glorify the car I drive. I would have started this thread regardless, even if I drove a 1985 Geo Metro. I just have a tendancy to believe that whatever closeness there was between the STi and the Evo, has just gotten further apart.

thoughts?
Its all about preference!

How many threads like this do we have to answer and read?

GO drive and buy what you like!

Me I go with the EVO all the way! I have driven both and I think the Evo is all around better.

Best regards,

I recently sold my wrx so I was leaning more towards the 06 sti..until i test drove both (one right after the other). Evo ix has a better shifting tranny and way better feeling interior (doesn't feel as cheep/rattly).
