Daily driven 300+whp Evo owners....chime in.

The car leaves for the north next week, going to AMS to have some work done to it. I have spoke with the shop, and they have a laundry list of stuff to do to the car.

I guess my concern is, is the car going to be 'scary' for my wife to drive? Best guess is low boost is still going to be over 400whp, which will also be where I open-track the car at. High boost will be for viper/vette hunting at Road Atlanta, as long as the stock internals live.

Guys and Girls with the big numbers, how does the car drive, is it scary for the person who commutes, rather than drives?

If she does not like the power of thrust under boost, tell her to just short shift before it hits really hard. She will be okay as it seems she has driven the evo before...at least you will have piece of mind when she has to merge into traffic. Plus AMS will most definatly put a rev limiter on her so no worry of her over reving the evo. My wife has driven my 570 awhp at 28psi and hates the boost, so she shifts her at like 3000 rpms and it saves me money on the 110 octane!

I think with 400rwhp, youll be experiencing noticeble lag with the larger turbo.

if that were the case and ur wife doesn't like the boost then she can just shift earlier/at lower rpm to avoid getting full boost.

btw, ur wife is freakin lucky

400 awhp is attainable (depending on type of dyno) with the right combination of parts on the stock turbo...I can hopefully prove this soon enough

Your car's street personality will depend alot on what mods go into it. Without that info there's no basis for "informed guesses".

There's a basic flaw to the thinking here. Why is the wife driving the evo?

You are in the same boat as I am pretty much. My wife drives the Evo Every day. I only get to see it on Sunday and sometimes Saturday. My car is 330 whp and it's a freaking beast. I have not lost one race yet. My wife wants more power ???? I have in plan to make her car 10 sec. by next year...... Good luck.....
