Looking to buy an Evo IX - Need Advice
Hey Guys, My STi is being sold this thursday and I'm ready to pull the trigger on an 06 EVO IX. A couple questions answered and some advice would be great.
I'm either getting a regular EVO IX or a MR. RS isn't an option for me.
Best price I can get so far for a Regular 2006 EVO IX is about $31,500 OTD.
Best Price I can get so far for a EVO IX MR is about $36,500 OTD.
I realize these are great deals and at or below invoice price. My question is I plan on buying this car the same time my roomate buys the same car. Either 2006 EVO IX or MR for him as well. What, if any discount should we get on top of the above listed prices? The dealer says "this is the best deal we can give you, and only giving you these prices because you're buying 2 cars"
Can someone tell me if they've gotten lower than these prices, out the door? Including destination charge, mr package, zero lift kit, tax, license, registration.
And lastly, can anyone argue in favor of why i should save $5,000 and NOT get the MR and instead get the regular model? I know what the MR adds:
- Vortex Generator
- Bilstein Shocks
- BBS Wheels
- Aluminum Roof
- 6 Speed Gearbox
- MR Badging
- Gauge Package
- Carbon Fiber E-Brake
- Aluminum Shift Knob
- Wheel Locks
- Rear Spoiler Extension-Wickerbill
- Front Under Air Dam
- Front Brake Air Guides
Pretty sure thats about it. Thanks so much in advance for your replies.
ps.. The STi is great and fun as hell but... it's no Evo

You should be able to get a 2006 MR for less than $36,500. Go to Huntington Beach Mitsu (no, I don't work there, I just bought mine there)
EDIT: I meant below 36,500 without tax, dest, lic, etc charges
I'd say go for the MR if you can afford it. Just my opinion.

There has been a thread about the advantages and disadvantages of getting an MR and the regular GSR( Alot of good info if u jus search).
I mean do u plan on modifying ur Evo, thats the big question? Cause with that 5k.. u can get a beast

EvoJutsu, I do plan on doing all the regular bolt-ons. No internals really or for atleast a year or so. Only thing I'm not sure about is the 5 speed in the regular evo 9 vs the 6 speed in the MR. All the threads ive read praise the gearbox in the MR. and with the $5,000 everything can be replaced but that.

He's right, this topic has been covered extensively...
For that price, I wouldn't even consider passing the MR up. That price is better than anything I've ever seen (with my own eyes). Be wary of that price, there's most likely some catch (or the dealer is your dad).

If you are going to start modding then I would save the cash and get an RS. Just add power windows and you're good. If you're keeping it stock (very hard to do) then get the MR. Good luck.
