Yep I hear of people all the time trading in one for the other. I think maybe some people just like to change.

How sound waves are formed? what wavelength, amplitude, frequency, resonance, reflection mean?

Here is a test you can conduct, run both an inline 4 and a boxer 4 with open headers (aka no headers) and tell me if they sound different ...

Until then please keep the signal to noise ratio down.

Also as to why, people take long loans or put a lot of month down. Some do it to keep their money payments low, some do it because the interest rate they get is low. I have to agree with GPTourer on this ... Ever heard of the present and future value of money?
you really don't have a ****ing idea about what you're talking about.. a car is going to make the same sound it was designed to make no matter what kind of exhaust you put on it, the only thing that changes is how loud or low that sound gets... do an experiment and prove me wrong...

and to your second half thought... you ever think of it like this? putting a down payment can be related to the term of your loan... for instance, you put half down, you don't need to sign a 5 year loan.. you can sign a 3 year loan and get it paid off faster as well as paying less per month... you can argue % rates all day, i'm talking about something that stays constant..

also, adding more does not make your posts look any more intelligent than they really are....

i'm not going to reply to anything else posted here, because i don't have the energy to argue anymore... you guys believe what you want, i do see your side and it does have some good points, however it is not the ONLY way to do it...

brijen123,

Why did you sell your last two evos? Why would you consider replacing them with almost identical vehicles? I'm guessing that you've probably taken a nasty hit financially already, why not just buy a nice, used ITR and relax. You can use the rest of the money for a down payment on a house, or perhaps another investment. This just doesn't make any sense to me.....

Its funny you say this. I actually own a 2000 Yellow Type R right now that I have on ebay for sale. I Love the car but I need a new car. Yes I have take quite a hit, you can say I have an addiction to cars but I cant help it. The insurance goes down alot going from an itr to a sti.

Interesting. Why not just buy a nice, clean used STi, and not subject yourself to another $7K hit just for the pleasure of driving it off the lot. In my estimation, your payment would probably be about the same as the lease, and you'd actually end up owning the car in the end. One more point: You say you want to mod the car slightly. I'd check with Subaru of America to make sure that this is okay with them. On a lease, you're basically renting the car, no? Even if you take it back to stock before turning it in, I'm sure they know what to look for. They might ding you for a considerable amount of cash at the end of the lease for being out of compliance with the terms of the lease. Not to mention the fact that you'd likely void your warranty. Just a thought.

I own both an '05 Sti and an '05 MR, and if the '06 STi handles slightly better than the '05 then the Evo isn't as far ahead of the game as most think (stock for stock). As far as handling is concerned, that's a tough one. The Evo has quicker response and feels more nimble, it feels like it handles better I think because it's easier to get to turn in. I think the STi handles just as good, it's just different and you have to know how to drive it in order to get the most out of it. The Evo requires a little more driver commitment (skill) at the ragged edge; the STi is more forgiving to drivers that get in over their heads due to it's tendency to steer with the throttle ie: driver gets into a corner to hot and does like most uneducated drivers do and lets off the throttle when the car starts to drift outside... unconsciously they are doing what the STi likes and are inducing some over steer which will keep them from running off the road. If you know this about the STi and know how to trail brake proper then you could keep with a stock Evo in the corners, albeit you'll be working a little harder than the Evo driver.

Now as far as power, they are correct when they say that the Evo has more of a surge or a burst. It also has more lag and more boost which isn't necessarily a good thing. I'll take a smooth torque curve over a steep peaky one any day. This is where the .5 liter displacement comes into play. The STi is very sneaky in it's power delivery, it has almost no lag compared to the Evo, and is deceptively fast. It doesn't feel as quick as the Evo because it's smoother, but it gets to top speed a lot faster than the Evo without all the ruckus. The Evo sounds like your killing it when you rev it up around 6K, the STi is very subdued and almost quite. (stock)
You have to remember too that the STi is running a 225 tire and the Evo runs a 235 (oem) which is going to make a handling difference in and of itself. I'm running a 225 V rated snow tire on the MR right now and it reminds me a lot of the STi now going around corners. You won't dislike the STi once you drive it.

too bad no one cares about ur opinion, your not an enthusiast ur just a fanboy of mitsu. Someone thats really into cars respects all. Its sad when there are threads against ur own cars. i use to be on the forum alot.. and i use to always see threads about evo's bashing ralliarts and lancers. but thats not it... i had a thread up and someone with a lancer bashed me.. and said why did i buy an rs.. its an overpriced lancer with a turbo and awd. Good Game. Yo brijien u shouldnt even be taking oppinions here, if they are going to bash their own cars what makes you think they will like the subaru.

Wow nice review. The Evo has more of a surge but the sti seems to pull harder through the power band. I couldnt move forward in the seat.

This is true I just thought maybe alot of evo owners have Sti's or have been in sti's before and can review them closely together. I love both cars for what they are. I would never bash either of them.

Someone said the RS is an overpriced lancer with a turbo and AWD?

Man that person needs to throw some bleach in the gene pool and not reproduce.

Yeah I had an 05 RS and a lancer isnt even in the same universe as that car. RS's are amazing cars if you dont care about having all the creature conforts.

no offense to the owner of this car but I think that color combo + the front end makes that one of the ugliest cars I've seen in a long time. Sorry, no hate on the STi though.
