I have to agree wth warrtalon but in my situation I have driven both cars on the same course and EVO does handle and respond much better than the STi. If you don't believe me, go drive an EVO at the same track you driven your STi on, you'll understand.
Still a very nice car tho, I would like to own one someday, but not over an EVO.

To be honest, I think the ej25 (sti) boxer sound is sick. Sorry guys although I LOVE the evo, and would take it any day over an STi, I must say they do sound sick.

No don't get the STi. You will regret since you already drove an EVO. Get the IX because as good as the VIII, it is better according members here who got it.

I test drove STis before purchasing my MR for a daily drive and couldn't get anything from it that make me feel better than my 03 evo (neither the interior, the linear pull and the seat is even worse...). Also, their engine noise is loud but they're slow (so no backup for all that noise) according to my experience at the drag. Lot of evos got into the 12s where only a few of STis with major upgrade are got there. Even some with upgraded front mount IC still in the 13s.

1. sti doesn't handle as good as the evo
2. sti doesnt' feel as aggressive and edgy as the evo
3. evo looks better
4. evo has better internals than sti and can handle more power
5. sti has slightly better tranny and shifts alot smoother...
6. sti feels heavy and oversteers
7. wing on sti wobbles
8. power isn't raw on sti...is gradual and smooth
9. evo power is like a light switch on and off
10. sti has cruise control...sign of weakness...
11. evo recaros hug...sti recaros ...don't do much
12. 2.5ls vs 2.0ltr ...sti power looks better on paper ...

drive them both and you'll see what i mean
both amazing cars...i respect the sti...but the evo is just better

i have driven both stock and mildly modded sti's ...and wouldn't buy one over an evo anyday... u give me a free sti ...i'd sell it and get another evo and have money left over

IMO i think that the 06 Evo's have better interior then the STI's. The 05 evo's had that ugly interior but now i would take the new evo's interior.

I don't know what your seeing out there . there are people running turbo back and COBB EM running 12.2 1/4 mile times. You guys are talking alot of **** about how slow the STi's are. GIVE ME A BREAK. Subaru is a better built car then the evo drivetrain and fit finish.

Too bad those cars never show up at the Evo vs STi shootouts. The STis there don't even run 12.2 with tons more mods to include FMICs. I guess the no-mod ringers are just sitting on the sidelines watching the rest of the Subies get raped during all the Shootouts. An STi running 12.2 on just a TBE and tune are about as common as a daily-driven Evo running 10s. They exist, yes, but they are very uncommon. In fact, there's probably more daily-driven Evos that have hit 10s than STi's running 12.2 on 2 mods.

06 STI's have been advertised at invoice (around here) since they were released. They are the easy to buy choice. The Evo IX is the better car. I've owned both, and I dumped the STi.

Who won the evo STi shoot out this year. And it all depends on who is driving the to get the numbers. And it takes alot of money STi or evo to run in the 10's so don't foul yourself. the 2.5 has only been in country for 3 years the evo has 10 years on that. I'm sure it won't take us 15 years to get to were your at. We already have 775whp out after 2 years

Another reason not to get the 06 are the PLASTIC motor mounts. People who drag race them are breaking the mounts on their first or second. another one broke the mount misshifting. http://www.iwsti.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34215

Sorry to get you upset man. But I'm not talking **** but stating the fact. At Cal Speedway here, I rarely see an STi ran well and when it ran well, it's the one with upgraded turbo.

I'm not going to argue with you about the "better built car... bla bla" since I don't want to get into another evo vs. sti thread. I just give my opinion to the thread originator.
