Yes, you are allow to have an opinion but what you forget is the title. It is would I like a STi, not in your opinion would you drive your ghetto work truck or a STi?

The 9 will be the last EVO with the 4g63. It will be a keeper

I dont own the evo VIII anymore. I sold it awhile back. Im just debating on which car to get ove rthe 05 sti and new Evo IX. Its more then likely going to be the IX. I do love the interior in the sti though.

Brijen123...if you have had such good luck with the Evos I really can't see you going wrong with the IX hell, to be honest I'd take a brand new IX over my STi hands down...I regret it but what can you do they are both amazing cars

I had the same battle of if I should get an sti or evo. I loved all the pros about the evo:handling, the seats, the power up top. However, I could not get over the lack of low end power compared to the sti. I use to own a 99 civic si and the evo had the similar power characteristics, all or nothing, and that would get old fast. Considering I am not going to do major upgrades, the sti was the clear choice.

Ok I did some research.

1. I guess these mystery STi's with 500 hp did not show up at annual evo vs STi racewars in Englishtown.

2. I have never seen or heard of 1 STi with minima or anyl weight reductions run a low 12's with a tbe exhaust, reflash and race gas.

3. The VF39 stock turbo on the STi is just too small and can't make anywhere near the same power at the evo8 or evo ix turbo.

It cool to make claims about a cars speed etc. but post up some time slips, vids or trap speeds and you might gain some crediabilty.

Red face

My highly un-biased 2 cents

In both Asia and the US, I've driven:
02+ WRXs
03+ Evos
Evo 6.5 & 4
GC8 Imprezas (both NA and STi)

Verdict? I cant fathom buying any 02 WRX over an Evo. Why? The overall driving experience from an Evo is simply superior IMO. You buy these cars for entertainment, and the Evo is simply a more entertaining car, from the steering, road feel, power delivery and confidence you feel when pushing it to the limit.

Not taking anything away from the Subies of course, I was a huge Subie fan back in their WRC hey-days of the mid 90s. If given the choice between a GC8 STi or a GD? STi, I would take the GC8 hands down, they are simply a blast to drive when compared to the new model, which IMO seems too muted, too tame.

Everyone else has touched on the interior, reliability bits already, and when you drive these cars it will become readily apparent where the strengths and weaknesses are, but bottom line, if you want to have an absolute blast driving a car, get an Evo.

i have an 05 GSR and a 06 STi which i like the STi better since the ride is much more comfortable for daily use not as harsh like it was in the GSR, but the GSR does handle a lot better since i have to drive on mountain back road everyday i can tell the GSR is alot shaper.

I just got an insurance quotes on both the sti and evo and the sti lowers my premium 240 dollars and the evo moves it up 20 dollars. Also I can get the sti at 420 a month and the evo at 480 a month this is quite some savings on the sti. Would you buy the sti with these kind of savings?
