I do the exact same thing.

If you're racing and you downshifting, you will destroy your gearbox even if they are synchro into it! You will damage as well your clutch.

When you're racing, the best practice is the double clutch. You car is made for this kind of moves. pedals are exactly at the right location

So when I'm driving slowly (speed limits ) I downshift + brake. When I'm going faster, I'm using double clutch + brakes. My brakes won't live forever but i prefer to change my brake pads than my gearbox!!!

Downshift and engine break the most. Always try to keep the rpm good when doing so. Also break while in gear some, in the lower gears.

Something new happening now that it is cold. When I downshift some times right as the clutch is engauging it sounds like a faint horn blowing. Seems to stay around even after the car is warmed up good. The clutch does not slip any I know.

Whatever I feel like doing. Sometimes ill downshift + rev match, sometimes ill put it in neutral and coast, sometimes ill just push the clutch in and keep it in gear until im almost stopped. Depends on my level of laziness that day.

I feel amputated if I just coast down the road in Neutral... learn to rev match and heel toe in a beater car, the ability to do so will carry over to whatever car that you drive in after u feel it out.

I match rev when i downshift every car. I dont care if its my beater jetta or my bike. I have to do it across the board to remain consistant.

in the manual it says when you downshift to slow, anything over 25 use 3d gear, anything under 2nd, i usually follow this, i will slow down with brakes, downshift into 3d normally until i stop with the brakes and at some point in there i'd a thrown it in neutral
