Yes jhero23, very common problem....

That's exactly the point. The TOB is moving back and forth ever so slightly from the vibration of the engine. When the clutch is depressed there is now pressure on the TOB preventing it from rattling ever so slightly. What he's explaining is not tranny noise. The tranny should only whine on decel in gear.

The only things broken on my EVO are the front bumper, left headlight assembly, left front quarter panel, and intercooler (slight accident).

aside from the damage i did in my accident, the only thing i have broke is the nerves of several passengers.

your noise may be a throw out bearing, I don't know. What I do know, is the stock Mitsu tranny makes a lot of gear noise. This is common problem reported by others. Go to a lightweight flywheel and it gets worse. Just ask the vendors who sell lightweight flywheels if you don't want to take my word for it.

In your case, what's making the throw out bearing move at idle? Just engine vibration? but why does that make the throw out bearing rattle? The pressure plate is only rotating, and not moving axially, the bearing itself is under no load, the release fork is stationary, why is the throw out bearing moving? So if I took a throw out bearing in my hand, and shook it, it should rattle?

1. I have a bad ground for my A/F gauge under my car (bought it that way, havnt had time to fix) so any time it rains really bad, or it snows really bad I throw a check engine.
2. When its really really cold, my e-brake light reads that it's on.
3. When it gets cold (because of my SAFC) my car's rpms spike really really low at times causing the car to stall out, even if the clutch is in.

Tripple on the TOB, they just make noise, very similar to DSM noises.
