Yeah, my friend used to have a 91 Z28 and he would use bags of ice on the intake plenum between runs. We'd also push the car to the staging area so the intake didn't warm up idling there. The L88's ran the coolant through the block then up to the TB/plenum, so the intake are got warmed up real quick.
That stuff is legit and it doesn't leak like a bag of ice does. It is the same principle as Cryo2 does but cheaper. Cryo2 has a bulb that goes into your intake and fills with CO2 to chill the air. They also have a fuel cooler where you put one end of the fuel line in one port and the other end in another and the CO2 chills the fuel before it reaches the combustion chamber.
I have seen these wraps at the track and they seem pretty slick.
