Exedy twin chatter

Anyone elses ETD chatter even if it is engaged? Mine does a lot over bumps, and the downpipe hits the underbody crossbar as well. I just ordered the Ingalls "Stiffy", so I hope it cuts down on some of the chatter after the install and tweaking. Anything I can do with the clutch noise, or do I have to live with performance over comfort? Thanks for responding!

TURN UP THE RADIO! No, this is normal I have had 2 metallic Exedy twins, and an Exedy triple, they all chatter some. I think what you hear over bumps is NOT the clutch, but the downpipe. why does the downpipe hit the crossbar AFTER the clutch install? is it tightend all the way?

like smokedmustang says, the chatter is normal, so don't think there is anything wrong with it. Also, the clutch shouldn't make any more noise over bumps than it normally does. Those noises over bumps must be coming from somwhere besides the clutch.

I agree with dubble on that.

Buschur's downpipe does not have a flex-joint, so I know that it has little clearance. Most of the chatter sounds exactly like clutch engagement in First or reverse, but I am in Neutra or a gearl. Oh well, guess I have to live with the noise and the motor mounts poping in this Ohio weather.

Did you put the DP on at the same time as the clutch install? Did you put a heat resistant foam where it gets close? is the "rattle" on the DP on the oil pan? I would get some Header tape (I use it) or the foam, so the vibration should be gone. if still there, after doing that, we/you should look for another source of the chatter. how long, and how many miles on the clutch?

I'm on my first Exedy Twin Disc and I was prepared after all I had read about the clutch chatter but still surprised at how much noise there really is. I thought it was my coilovers at first, it sounded like my springs. Now I just crank it up.

I had a ton of chatter on my twin disc Exedy after 5000 miles of use. When it's engaged fine, but when you press the clutch pedal in and the floating discs are clanging against each other it gets tiresome.

That's just my opinion.

I've learned to live and love the chatter that comes with my twin disc
