AccessPort for the EVO
I used ap on my sti. It was great, best mod with the turbo back without going crazy. I sold the sti before trying pro tuner, but the ability to switch maps is a great feature. Understand though, ap stage 1&2 for scoobies was a one size fits all map, not individually tuned for a specific car. Hence, it is conservative (+), but it's also limited to what you can do (-).
I had heard a rumor that Ecutek was looking at a similar handheld device to use with their programming. It would allow a user to choose between several maps.
Cobb seems pretty dedicated to scoobies. So as a hardware/software provider, it would seem to be most likely offered through another tuner.

The guys at Gruppe-S were telling me how much they love tuning the Scoobies with the AP. I like the idea but it's been "in development" for the Evo for a while now. Betcha EcuTek releases some thing like this for the Evo first.
It is something we have had requests for from a few shops/owners and thus placed in an "under development" status. However, the time it takes to complete is simply based on how much resources we can dedicate to the project.
We have a lot of things we're working on at the moment, and not all of it is only Subaru related. However, its much too early to discuss any details.
What is certain is that we won't be releasing any EVO support for the current AccessPORT.
Cheers,
Trey @ COBB

well i have heard of cobb and there devices, never knew of this access port device. but after i read about it. seems Very interesting. and i can speak for me and probably a big portion of th evo community you guys need to get on one of these for us evo 8 and 9 owners.
Trey,
I think you guys are missing out big time by not making one for the EVO community. There are a lot of EVO owners that would switch to an AccessPort type device in a heartbeat, you guys could corner a sizeable chunk of the EVO market, IMHO.
Again, IMHO, people truly looking for performance from their cars buy the STi and EVO, not the legacy and other family sedans. Anyways, its really sad that you guys are busy allocating resources elsewhere. Too bad ...

He didn't say that they weren't working on anything for the Evo.
What he said/meant was that they weren't going to be using the "current" AccessPort as the medium through which to offer whatever it is that they ARE working on for the Evo.

Mike,
At the rate they are going, they might as well not be making one. What I meant by not making one is not having an Accessport present in the market ... for the 2002 WRX they had one out in 2004. For an 2003 EVO8 ... its now 2006, with no ETA and still the under development "statement". Granted the 1st one is the hardest to make but they had the STi and several other model Subarus were done in relatively short time after doing the WRX AccessPort. The least they could do is give us a general time frame, doesn't even have to be very accurate. Then some of us could decide whether it is worth waiting for an AccessPort or whether we should spend our money on some other form of EMS. I guess time will tell, till then I'll assume a Dec 2007 release date
