Evo body panels..
Hey guys... on the Evo VIII body panels, I was wondering why they are so lite. The hood, left and right front quarter panels and the trunk. Are they made out of fiberglass? It's very thin in construction.
This doesn't mean it's bad and all and really want to have some weight savings but I was just a bit curious as to what kind of material did mitsu use. If you tap on those areas I mentioned, the sound will be different compared to the other parts of the car.

from the encylopedia on the home page -
"By using aluminum sheetmetal for the fenders and hood, not only is overall weight reduced, but the nose section’s center of gravity is also reduced, improving handling and braking. The blistered rear quarter panel that accommodate the vehicles wider track and that are integrated into the body are pressed from steel. The aluminum panels are created by dedicated tooling designed to precisely form a softer, lighter metal, and maintain excellent fitment characteristics. "

Yeah, but because they are made of alluminum, they are prone to getting dings really easy... So make sure no one leans up against your fenders or does anything to your hood. Cause it's a ***** to get the dings out of alluminum..
