I guess just have to go out and do it and see that nothing happens just brakes and what not go fast doing it that.
Here...not sure how helpful this is. It never looks that great on video.

Very cool war. Seems like auto x you are in 2nd all the time maybe I’m wrong lol. Seems very fun and all. Only thing have to know how to read the course lol. As of what the cones mean that’s all. And seeing auto x and road racing just makes my skin jump. I want to go and travel somewhere warm lol so I can go do some of these things maybe I will have a night course with friends and just go in a lot and have a little fun.

Hehe cops don’t have any problems with that do they. Hehe wink wink.

The only handling mod I've done since then is a set of R-compounds, which is really all you need until you learn to master the stock suspension, which I have not done yet. In fact, I will still not use any suspension upgrades this entire next year other than to set the camber on my stock eccentric bolts to -2 (or however far they will go).

You should start here and work your way up...
i second this. I've autocrossed 3 seasons now (about 10 autox's total), and my ONLY modification has been grippy tires (Falken Azenis) and axxis ultimate brake pads. Actually, I ran on crappy OEM pads the the first and last 3 or so events.

Anyways, i've won 7 trophies so far? I've had a 1st place finish, two 2nd place finishes in my class, and the rest of the time were only trophy finishes (1 trophy per 3 drivers). This is all on stock suspension, no engine modifications. Start here, it's easy to get into, it's cheap, and the people are friendly and will help you out. They are motorheads and LOVE motorsports, just like you. I am in the Chicagoland area and race with SCCA and TSSCC. Try looking for (as other people have said) SCCA or NASA events around your area. Good luck man!

You're getting ahead of yourself mike! You will save much more time around the auto-x track by thinking about your driving line than you will worrying about heal-toe shifting. But this is a discussion for after you attend atleast 1 event and get some wheel time (as far as auto-x is concerned).

Your *best* bet (in my opinion) for the goals you seem to have, would be to save your $ until you run a few auto-x events. Research suspension and how things work (if you're not already familiar) as far as sway bars, cross braces, camber/toe adjustments, wheel/tire combinations etc. Keep that knowledge and combine it with your experience at the auto-x course to decide what you *need* to do to the car (not *want* to do to be cool, like strip the interior, because cool is not what gets you sponsors, fast is) to help it bring you to the top of the charts. Let me put it this way, a experience driver in a stock Evo will walk all over an Evo with no interior and an inexperienced driver (inexperienced on the track). Get some track time, then start thinking about better driving methods and mods. You dont want to end up putting on a set of springs + shocks then realizing you should have spend the $ on coilovers with camber adjustments instead (thats just an example)..

Yes I total know what your saying. I’m not spending money on anything till I go out and get some track time. I only spending some money on some lose ends. Giving my self little more torque and power. And making a car lighter will help in any way ok maybe I’m not a pro driver but lighter and what not I can feel and hear the car more in what it is doing. And I don’t like being the same as every one. I like having a diff kind of car. Lol. And find out new things before someone and just seeing what’s up.

what you want to do will not be a hobby.. and keeping sponsers happy, winning, appealing to all, is not a hobby its a job... if youre serious, call reese millin.. ask him how hard it is... having just street racing as a background, is nothing... but hey if this your real dream, best of luck to ya.. its a long hard road... i have always wanted to be a stunt driver, i have alot of skills, everything from a small kart car, to tractor trailer, but not the time or money to polish them.. and even if i did, my career isnt guarenteed, .. as much as its my dream, as much as i hate to say this, its would be foolish for me to give a 60k a year job, to follow my dream... take what i say as you wish.. ill say it also, hone your typing skills.. professionlism is what good sponsers want..
not a pipe dream..

I understand what you’re saying. But I mean it’s always be fun for me to do this stuff test things and race people and all. And for as my dream so why not now in my life when I have money and things like that to do these things do them now and see what I have under my belt.

Ha, when he's done with his spiel I'll inform him how hard it is keeping your government customers happy as a contracted software developer, then we'll see who's job is worse

if life affords it for you, and its not a finacial burden, go for it... but if it fails make sure the cost can never come back to bite you... or be stuck with a car that is half finised, and no money or sponsers to help. a bad idea in future life plans that cant, wont work, is like opening a steak house in a vegiterian community.. it wont work...

im not being negative, just giving you what ifs..

You said to call Reese and ask him how hard his job was... Then I said if Reese wants to complain about his job I'd inform him how fun my cubicle, no window, Office Space style government contractor position is while he cruises around all day making the big bucks

respect

More people respect a car with full interior, that is blazing fast than a striped down rice bucket ,,gutting is for two things game animals and honda ricers.People pay to much attention to the FF movies and junk like that, the only reason real race cars dont have all the interiors in them is cause of fire regulations and the added regulatory parts that have to be added to make it safe wont work with plastic every where.also sound deadener becomes toxic when burned and will stick to you like melted plastic.if you want a lighter car trade it in on a rs evo with mani windows and non power locks

Good luck with your goals Mike. It's always refreshing to see someone so driven about something.
There's books out there that I would suggest reading too like
Going Faster! Mastering the Art of Race Driving
Look it up on Amazon and all the related books. Read it through before your first track event. Then read it again afterwards to help put things together. I think it really helped with me and I never drove a wheel onto an autox course. (not saying you shouldn't because I think you should)

As again I didn’t think I was going to get this hard core and as I also look over from rs I don’t think the manual roll up windows are lighter anyhow. And also the manual door locks. And won’t even matter I will just take them out anyhow so wont matter which one I start with anyhow lol. Every thing comes out of the car. And yes you may say what people may think. But I’m not going to what people think. I’m doing what my goals and desirers are. If I can have 400hp and run a time on the drag. And a same full weight car needs 100-200 more hp to run same time as me. Hey more power to me. Won’t you say. Again this is not a daily car it is a race car. Lol so does not matter if full weight ya great people like but how many times a day do you see a fully gutted evo running down the street. Yeah I would say one in a million. So doing for the looks to get people to come over to car and now I need some more power to show what I do it good. As far as putting BR parts and all. And shows what the product can do. Anyhow I will stop repeating my self. over and over.
