Evo Problems

Ok i basically want to hear about some of the problems people have hade with Evo's. I cant stand talking to all this guys where i live, everyone who doesnt have a Mitsubishi seems to like to bad mouth them and say there built crappy and they always have problems. well i dont feel that way but im just curious at what kind of problems people have had. Ive heard of crankwalk, clutches, and transfer cases blowing but not that many.

No crankwalk on the Evo's 4G63. That was an issue with some of the mid 90's DSM motors. Clutches...well I've got close to 20k on my stocker with no chattering or slipping. Others have more miles and are pushing more horsepower. Drivetrain issues also seem to occur more in the '03 model than subsequent USDM Evos.

It's not God's chariot though. Maintenance is expensive...brake pads, tires, synthetic oil changes, etc. You'll also pick up a few interior rattles over time and discover that, even off boost, the car will NEVER achieve the advertised highway gas mileage.

Crankwalk is over used anyways. Its not NEARLY as large of a problem as anyone made it to be, and alot of it is driver influenced. Keeping the clutch down at a light with the car in a gear keeps pressure on the PP/Flywheel and can cause premature main bearing failure.

I dont own an evo yet, but the only problem i see from being in them is that they are way addicting, and your addiction will be boost.

yea i know that crankwalk was a huge issue with old school eclipses but i thought i heard a few people in some forums saying that they might be getting symptoms of crankwalk. but i havent heard any cases of it yet. but whos to say because didnt people start seeing crankwalk until the cars were hitting miles of 40K plus. i mean considering that most evos still have kinda low mileage whos to say if crankwalk might not be a issue down line?

Joe no one is upset. That warrtalon guy is an imposter of another member. He is just acting stupid.
