All in all, the purpose of the speed channel was to provide a venue fort the automotive enthusiat to get his fix. It was a niche channel. And that is where it developed it's reputation, by carrying forms of racing viewers couldn't see anywhere else. Endurance racing, formula 1, british touring car racing, the SCCA runoffs and of course rally coverage were what made Speedvision the channel to watch.

Now I guess corporate greed has taken over and they are blinded the the $$ of nascar. This is unfortunate but real. Now if only some rich entreprenuer could seize the opportunity they leave by becoming the all nascar all day network and create something similar to the old speedvision by snatching up coverage contracts as speed drops them...

how do you announce a nascar race?

well chuck, what will gordon do here?
I think he's gonna turn left al.
chuck, do you see the way he moves the wheel to the left? effortless, I really like how he turns left. Doesnt get any better than that.
Al, i think his left turns are rivaled only by that of Mr. petty.

how anyone can sit throught 3 hours of that is beyond me.

I signed. You can still catch brief glimpses on Fox Soccer Channel news.
I hate Fox News but I love the Fox Soccer Channel.

There may be hope someday. The guy who started Speedvision and then sold it to Fox Sports still owns the rights to the Speedvision name.....

I hope he's watching.

Keep sending the petition to people you know guys. It looks like we're already at 1500+ signatures in less than 15 hours. Hopefully it'll be close to 3000 signatures before the end of the day.

I don't know which will have a more lasting impact...cancelling SPEED or signing this petition...but a lot of people have done both.

Or because no one watches it. They used to do in-depth weekend long coverage for WRC, but no one watched it. It was reduced to a 1.5 hour summary show and no one watched it. Now its gone. Go look at the WRC threads on this very 0board. There are none. What few there are sparked little to no interest. You cant blame Speed TV for cancelling a show with almost zero fan base.
