Question Insurance question

have any of you listed your mods on your car for your insurance company to insure?? I was thinking about doing this but figured they may try to raise rates if i claim several thousand dollars extra on my car.

Anyone have any sort of experience on this?

I have Geico, and they replaced aftermarket parts that weren't listed on my policy when I got into an accident with my VW. Keep the recipts, but you may not even need those. Sometimes, depending on how cool a body shop is, they will let you buy new pieces if they can be replaced with an aftermarket one (i.e. intake) and give the recipt to the insurance adjuster so you are covered. As long as the part isn't rediculous, like replacing your stock turbo with a GT42R or anything.

I work for statefarm. If you have teh receipts then most of the time you are ok, but please udnerstand that they replace these with after market parst at a favor to you. The policy does not state that we have to replace with aftermarket parts. So be sure to keep the proof or purchase. If you have a heavily modded car? (upgraded turbo stroker kit etc) LIST IT ON YOUR POLICY. Becuase if the car is stolen the only thing they are going to pay for is OEM equipment by law. If you pay the cost for them to insure you upgraded car then you get all your parts and labor costs back to you.

CN: If the car isnt modded heavily then no dont report it
IF it is, then yes report it and pay for it, its worth it.

In some cases if you were to have a high cost radio system in your car, say from $5000-$10,000 you can have your insurance company insure that system. It will make your rate go up, but it would be well worth it if you have that much money put in your car.
