Picking up a 2nd Evo...
Ive been modding my 03 quite extensively, i have a gt35r on it rite now, and was thinking about going with a built motor, and eventually upgrade to a gt37. But, that would turn into mostly a track car. So i was thinking about picking up a ix as a daily driver. Would I be better off switching the mods to the ix and have the 03 as a daily or vice versa?
the IX already has a little more kick to it and is more refined...imo you would enjoy driving it more...and it would hold its value better. im sure the 2003's warranty is already tainted lol so get a tune for the IX and drive the **** out of it
I would switch the mods to the EVO9 and turn the EVO8 into a daily driver. Reason being, at the track you want the most advantage you can get:
1. ACD
2. Front LSD
3. Mivec
4. Closer ratio 5 speed
5. Revised cooling passaged to resist more detonation
People don't really need this for daily driving ...

keep the IX stock-just get a front diff for the 03, it's already been modded, so keep it that way, it's RARE for stuff to be put back to normal and have the OEM fit and finish. . .once modded, keep it that way. . .

I'm in the same boat. I have a track evo 8 I drive on the street here and there and a bone stock IX RS. I'm thinking of swapping my setup to the IX RS since it's a lot lighter... my 8 has a sunroof. But knowing me, I will end up modding that IX
It shouldn't be a difficult decision. The only choice that makes sense is to keep the IX stock for daily driving, and build the VIII.
Reason being, your VIII is already well on its way to being a race car. Plus it's warranty is already void. Theres no changing that. The IX will have a warranty, so you want to keep it stock as to not void it.
Otherwise, if you build the IX and return the VIII to stock you'll have a daily driver without a warranty, that was beat on with a 35R and a brand new IX, also without a warranty because it'll be modded. That wouldn't be a smart move.
