insurance hike!!!
Last car: 05 sti. Insured w/USAA in NJ (NJ is crazy $ for car insurance, high theft, some companies refuse to write policies there.) $2600/year with a three car policy, married, homeowners policy combo, 31 years old male, no tickets in past four years. Sti was to re-new at over $4500/yr in NJ, single car policy. I asked why, same info given, reclassification of car. My 03 evo was $2800/yr in NJ, single car policy.
In AL, evo is $2100/yr on my single car policy. I expect it to go up at next renewal. We'll see how much. I get car fever every two years, but I love my evo, and want to keep it. I will get rid of it though, if insurance becomes a rip-off. I am getting a track only car at some point in the future, and have no problem driving something less vulnerable to insurance spikes on a daily basis.

I have statefarm here in good ol TX.....I was paying $110 a month for my 03 Evo, 96 blazer, and an 89 crx si. I bought a home about 2 months ago and I combined my home and auto insurance together, now I pay $82 a month for all 3 vehicles. I am 28, no tickets in the past 6 years, married with 2 kids..... no probs so far (knocking on wood)

Might not be though. I just got a quote through state farm with one ticket they wanted $4k for 6 months. I have Progressive and pay $1306/6. My own policy, 25, single.
Comparing rates with out comparing coverage is worthless. I work in the insurance industry, and insurers will increase the premiums any way they can. Cost of repairs on the evo are high, which they will argue to justify increases of collision and comp premiums. Liability coverage is also higher on the evo than other cars.
I pay $86.90 for 300k/500k for liability on my Chevy Silverado 4x4, and $142.20 for my evo which has the same coverage for liability, even though my Chevy is my daily driver.
Collision costs 4 times as much on the evo!

I'm at 920$/6 months with State Farm in Michigan with my 03 WW evo.
To let you know, I'm from France. In my country you CANNOT insure an EVO if you are under 25 and 5 years of driving experience.
So I'm a little amazed to see some guys who have got an evo with so few experience... It's a big opportunity you've got but people should keep control of themselves and drive carefully, expecially with no experience (1 or 2 years is not enough!!!)

Sad really.
What killed the MR2 may kill the EVO.
Eventually insurers will stop writing policies and Mitsu won't even be able to sell the car at all.
That or we may get a watered down version of whatever they make next.

Just went online and did a quote for following cars under my name in FL:
03 WRX: 1,300/6
03 EVO: 1,480/6
99 Eclipse GST: 1,360/6
95 Supra TT: 1,270/6
Couple of things don't look right here. Especially the eclipse quote. Why is it so high? Also i didn't think the supra would be the lowest.

I have Geico and got a quote if I was to have an Evo. Right now with an...03 ES and a 03 Mazda 5(wifes car) for six months it's like $1,4XX. If I was to get an 03 Evo and drop my 03 ES(Trade-in) it would be $1,603 for 6 months. That's only $30 a month more. So like $180 for the 6 months. Not bad at all. I was expecting ALOT worse.
