Odd noise help?
Odd noise help?
No noise at all when going straight, everything feels fine, sounds fine, tracks fine. Tires are all the same, no wierd marks, wear or anything. All balanced and all that.
Now, when I turn to the passenger side, at speed I/E on the highway going back to the slow lane, or a good speed on/off ramp, I hear this humming noise and feel it ever so slighlty. Nothing major, but it's there and I can tell it's there. No noise turning to the driver side, or at slow turns I can't really tell anything.
Stock suspension, stock rims, never hit anything or anything like that.
Any ideas? Any more info needed?
CV? Wheel bearing?
Thanks guys,
Mort.

I really do not notice it at low speed, but I'll try to pay more attention to it. Could be I just don't hear it over the usuall intake, tire noise and all that.
All stock on the suspension.
Any ideas?
Thanks for the replies.

Being that it only does it in one direction, I'd rule out everything common to both sides, like tire noise since you're running the same tires all the way around (duh!). In my experience, a CV joint will even be noticeable at low speeds, but more of a thunk, that gets progressively quicker in pace as you go faster, but never enough to be a hum instead of just a quick clunk. Wheel bearing on it's way out would be my guess, if it's anything at all.
It could just be road vibration being transferred up the suspension, and finally finding a piece of metal it can vibrate at the right frequency to produce a noise. My car makes a lot of noises that never seem to get worse, and I just chaulk it up to being an EVO.

I've got it too. Started around 30K. Have had it for the last 4K. Only happens on off ramps turning to the passenger side while decelerating slightly or downshifting. I'm not losing sleep over it, the Evo is a pretty noisy car.
