if you launch that thiing a lot with improper launch, it is very possible that clutch might be slipping , go to the dealer and hear what they say

I never launch my evo, its just not right for an AWD car, especially with the stock clutch IMO. I replaced my stock clutch @ 35,000 miles when they were doing the synchro TSB and it still had lots of life in it.

There might be as I am not sure on the 2003's or so. So far, there's nothing out yet for the 2006's. You can check to see in this link: http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/pr.../tsbsearch.cfm

Clutches are wear items... I honestly doubt that they will cover it under warranty. If I were you i'd just go to a local reputable shop and have them install a new aftermarket clutch.

Although it is a wear and tear item, I believe they will replace it assuming they found no sign of abuse. You are barely at 2k, so I would take it to the dealer and have them look at it. However, if you did abuse it, good luck.

If the car has an intake or anything like that, just check the bolts on the slave cylinder to make sure that they're both there.

It sounds stupid and off the wall, but i did this and it mimicks a clutch slipping.

'03's had one for a fifth gear grind problem. I had to pay for a new clutch, but they put it in for free since they had the trans out already. I went with the ACT clutch and its a great clutch for a stock to mild Evo.

Unhappy

Bahh humbug. I called the mitsu dealership that I purchased my car from and they hit me with a left hand turndown. As someone above stated they DO indeed have a warranty on the clutch, the only problem is that if they take it apart and see ANY signs of heat or drive abuse they make you pay the costs of labor. Which is about $850-900 total. Sucks huu? Especially because the chances of a clutch going out with NO help from the driver are VERY slim to none. Personally I dont want to risk the $900 to get it inspected knowing full well that I may have indeed played a role in the problem.

Oh well, seems that I will be replacing the stock clutch and flywheel with an aftermarket one. Figured I might as well replace to flywheel when I do the clutch. Now I just need to decide which combo I want. I know I want the triple carbon one just not sure which manufacturer and model. I drive the CRAP out of my EVO and I need a clutch that can handle all of the abuse that I give it. I also will be adding lots of power quite shortly all at the same time. So in the same context I need a clutch and flywheel that can handle close to 450-500WHP. Also this will be a track car as well as my daily driver. Luckily enough for me I am not too concerned about the required pressure for a race clutch as long as it is no ridiculous or anything like that. Based on what I have been reading I THINK that the Exedy Triple Carbon is the best one (Clutch/Flywheel) for my needs. I will however do some more research and reading before I make my final decision. But if anyone wants to chime in here about clutch/flywheel combo suggestions that will meet all of my needs feel free too. Thanks guys.

to the original poster, I suggest you read your maintanance/warranty booklet you got with the car, cover to cover. That'll answer your question about whether it "should" be covered or not. If you are truly stock, and haven't abused the clutch, then it "should" be warrantied, But will it? I don't know. How many times have you tested it to see if it was slipping? Each time you do this, and the clutch actually slips, it builds up a tremendous amount of heat, and it will blue the flywheel facing. This will look just like abuse to the dealer/factory service rep.

Ultimately it could go either way. Appearance, mannerisms, proper english etc. could possibly tip the scales in your favor if you decide to try to get it warrantied. I would.

<added>: ummm, after reading your last post, I changed my mind.

So you admit that it was your fault for causing the clutch to give out so quickly?
