1st EVO 8 in Sarasota/BR area???
Hello all,
I believe I own the 1st evo in the Sarasota/Bradenton, FL area. I purchased a black evo w/ the sunroof & spoiler 2 weeks ago ... drove it off the lot literally 2 hours after it was unwrapped (watched it get removed from the truck)! It had only 5 miles on it ... and none of the salesman had a chance to drive it! WASTED NO TIME TO BREAK HER IN! I already have 740 miles in her and I've been driving fairly hard the last 140 miles or so. I've heard some of you talk about a shift problem (mainly in 2nd and 4th gear). I experienced the same problem until about 600 miles, and now all of my shifts are quick, smooth, and precise! However, it still does this once in a while if I'm driving it while slightly cold (e.g. early morning, etc), but it goes away as soon as the tranny fluid hits normal operating temp!
My previous monster was a 00' Ford Lightning (traded it in for the evo after 41K miles). Let me say that the EVO has not been a disappointment so far! It is one of the best handling machines I've ever driven, and the list includes a Porsche 911, Boxter, and an Acura NSX. The evo is much more fun & versatile, compared to my former one-dimentional drag monster Lightning (not that this is an APPLES to APPLES comparison).
My first mods for the evo have been a system (Alpine deck, MB qaurt mids & highs, JL Audio 500.5 amp, and a Kicker Solo L5 in a removable box ... I tried to achieve sound qaility and volume, without adding a lot of weight. More amps and power = another battery, bigger box, and more subs = too much weight! Also, I've tinted the windows (5% Solaguard), and I have the Ralliart gauge set on order, along the Ralliart racing pedals.
Of course, I'm searching for an ECU or chip upgrade but no luck so far ... a full review & pics is forthcoming. Would like to know if there are any EVO owners in or close to the Tampa Bay/Orlando/Sarasota/BR area?
Thanks -- Jeff

jotan82,
We should organize a meeting one weekend very soon ... we are the few proud owners in the area. By chance, did pick up your black evo at Brandon Mitsu? I know they didn't want to drop below $3500 over retail. How did you end up doing in your area if you don't mind me asking?
