That really does suck. hopefully it will catch up with the kid that did it. I know this one time i was working at a kids rec center and they sent me some juvenile(like 14ish) community service kid and i ask him what he did....

he replied with "i broke into a jeep"
me: "why"
him: "to take the radio"
me: "how did you get in?"
him: "i just grabbed the metal holding the plasitc window and bent it down"

i was so enraged... i made him clean toilets and clean garbage cans the whole day. basically anyone that did anything like this and came to me with community service i'd give them fithiest things to clean in the center.

steeling in apartments is sooo easy for theives!! i knew sum kid back in high school who did this all the time, and he told me that all u need is 3 people, he would do as so:
1. break window to get in
2. go inside car and close the door
3. the second person gets inside the passenger seat talking on cell with the 3rd person who is outside walking around keeping an eye out

this kid used to tell me that people would walk by and just look at them but they would just act normal like if it was their car! he told me they could be there for like 5-15 minutes just chilling tryna to take out the radio and everything thats inside!!

its really dangerous to live in an apartment and have a car that stands out like the evo does!! it just catched these bastards attention!!

Ahh **** man!! I had that exact same thing happen to me about 5 years ago. I came out one morning and the interior of my car was totally destroyed and my stereo was missing. So sorry to hear, and I hope your insurance company takes care of you and you get all your stuff replaced.

They did not cover it for the reason I had stated. Otherwise it would have been covered under home owner insurance as the other pieces were. Granted I had to pay $150 more for that deductible but at least I got my stuff back.
Actually, you're lucky they covered your CDs. Many insurance companies will not insure CDs because they are expensive to replace and they are so easy to steal. I had over 50 CDs stolen from my car and insurance would not replace them under the auto or homeowners policies (and they were two different companies.) It depends on your policy and coverage as to what items the insurance company will pay for. There's no definable "this is covered" "this isn't covered" that applies to everyone.

people steel stuff because they are lazy, plus the fact that there are no real severe consequences for theft. i, for one, say that there should not only be stricter jail sentences for these criminals, but also a way to permenantly mark these guys. this way, everyone can see that they are criminals throughout their life. child molestors have to, why not these guys? tatoo a red letter "T" on their forheads for "theif"!!! that way, they are stuck with the consequences of their actions for their entire life!

PLUS they should be forced to repay whatever damages they have done. if you steel a $2200 stereo system, they should be forced to repay the owner $2200. or atleast the insurance company. its because the insurance company is out the money, that all of our rates are so high. this would give INS companies another source of income, allowing them to not raise our rates so much!

what do you say guys?

That just sucks . . . I know since the same thing happened to me. My car was sitting in front of a friends house, really nice neighborhood, in a cul-de-sac, plenty of street lights at 6:00 P.M. The car was parked for less than an hour.

They stole the crappy factory gauge set, a Defi boost gauge, my V1 radar detector, my Sidekick cell phone (it's the only time I've ever left the phone in the car), and a really nice LED flashlight.

Pretty weird they didn't take a good tire pressure gauge and none of my cd's.

I heard from the Police that there were 5 people involved. They way they broke in was to stick a pry bar between the door and the roof and pry out, then two people grab the window frame and just yank on it.

They bent the window frame out about 8 inches away from the car, nice huh? Didn't break the window.

The lame thing is the radar detector and cell phone was a bonus. All the gauges they took are of no use at all without the senders.

Oh well good luck getting your ride back in shape.
