evo 6.5 emission problems
im pretty new to this site but im lookin for some help with my evo 6.5 tme i live in new york state and with higher emissions im facing the problem of not being able to get it inspected ive had it on the road and titled in the u.s for the past year or so i was lookin for some help before im faced to run it as a full blown rally car or sell it any help???
to my knowledge they do not check for the emissions anymore, they only check if you have CEL light poping out recently, they plug in the computer onto your OBD II and look if you had it. If not you should be good to go. If you reseted the computer you may have to drive it for at least 300 miles until it collects some data. The rest should be as usual.

if youve had it on the road and titled already, why would it be a problem?? just make sure your emissions are okay-e.g. a catalytic converter and the proper OBD2 with emissions for that car for that year. you should be good.
hey thanks for the thought i am running no cat at this time so ill try to that last time i tried to get it inspected from a friend it passed the pre ignition test but it took a while of trying then when we tried the running test it wouldnt even read anything i was thinking cause the car was imported from japan it didnt have the right OBDII any ideas on that?

Your car will pass just fine with a cat' in it. Your car is not OBDII compliant. Evos 1-6 are not OBDII. There is no diagnostic port on the dashboard for the OBD tool but the codes can be read with a MUTTII or an analogue voltmeter.
You can read engine codes however. If you're interested in the procedure you can email me at alex at dentsport.com
The engine is the same as the E-8 for the sake of this conversation.

They do check emissions in New York. What you need to do is find a cat-converter that fits and probably some fuel additives made for smog tests just to be sure.
btw, how did you get a road legal TME??
