It's not to pass as an STi they're STi parts. Here's a link for everyone so they can see what STi offers. Weeeiiiird their products look just like the ones on a USDM WRX STi I wonder why? NO WAIT STi is a car not a company how dare WRX's put STi stuff on their cars. I guess Subaru is out of this discussion. Here is a link of some of the stuff you can get from STi. http://www.subaru-sti.co.jp/parts/gdf_impreza/cat1.html Also STi model owners don't care if WRXs put the STi wing on their car. I've never heard of someone caring. A lot of STi owners put the WRX wing on their car that's stupid why are they trying to make it a WRX it's an STi right?

maybe i'm just too critical when it comes to badges.

I also think it would have looked better without the g35 on it and just the skyline part.
it is a skyline gt

the sti is actually a wrx sti... it's a wrx first before it's an sti... the same can't really be said about hte lancer... cuz the overall form is a lot different (altho they're getting more similar). the sti even has the same headlights as the wrx...

i don't know why anyone would get mad at a ralliart evo... or something like that or trying to be a ralliart evo...

I wouldn't go that far personally, but I get your point and agree with it.

I actually prefer the USDM "Lancer Evolution" badge to the UK one. The "Evolution", in particular, on the USDM Evo is awesome looking - in my opinion. It is the same look used on JDMs and every Evo worldwide, except those UK versions. Every time I read the "Evolution" on the back of my car, I get excited. I say it in my head like a surfer dude from Cali, "Eh-vo-loo-shun."

It's so damn cool that I own this car. I'm so damn proud of it. Anyone in the know, knows that this car commands respect.

I should also mention that I didn't evolve as an Evo enthusiast while drooling over UK-spec Evos because I knew they were and still are unavailable here in the States. I'd rather not want something I couldn't have, nor pass my car off as something it's not.

Having another market's badge on your USDM car is like passing it off as the real thing. I mean, in a way, all you guys with the "E V O L U T I O N VIII/IX" badging on your USDM Evos are no better than the Type R badged USDM Civic or the GT-R badged G35 because technically our Evos and the other markets' Evos are not the exact same cars.

There are degrees of fraud. Then again, we all have our likes and dislikes, and we can agree to disagree. If it makes you happy, do it. So, in the end, who really cares? It's all a matter of opinion and preference.

Peace.

I don't have the skyline badge on my g35 nor do I have the EVOLUTION IX badge on my EVO, however, I don't think getting the Skyline or EVOLUTION IX badge is fraud;, the car is a skyline and the other is a true EVO IX. Having a Civic Type R badge on the other hand is a specific Honda existing model that you cannot get here, and a GT-R badged G35 is a lie as well since it is a Skyline, not a GT-R. for the EVO, if you were here in the USA and had FQ badges, then I could see what you call fraud but not by displaying EVOLUTION IX. Even this little ricer fella I see in Denver with a errrr *cough cough* yellow Lancer and a huge sticker symbol on the back window, this isn't fraud, it may be rice in many eyes, but yes, it's a Mitsubishi, and I guess he wants everyone to know it? Hahaha......and to top it off, he drives just like a typical "ricer".

I guess in the end, it's all in how each individual interprets each sticker or badge.

interesting topic. I honestly didn't even know that. I know what the GT-R and the GT-S turbo is. But I never heard that the G35 in Japan is considered as a Skyline as well. Good to know. Though the engine on all 3 models are different.

It's all a matter of opinion, like I stated in my original statement. You chose to quote me incompletely. If you're going to quote me, include everthing I wrote.

You joined this forum a full one month, I say again, ONE MONTH, before I did, so don't sling that newbie garbage at me. And name calling? Who doesn't know the rules of this forum? You don't, "evo8rcr". Maybe you haven't read this thread: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/announcement.php?f=69 ... if you have, I guess you don't respect it or the entire forum. It's only a matter of time, dude. It's only a matter of time ...

No matter what, UK Evo badging on a USDM Evo can be interpreted as an owner posing to have a UK Evo. Step outside your little box and creatively think about this. (I can't stand one-sided thinkers.)

I don't even know why I'm responding to your post, as it should be deleted by the mods or admin guys anyways. Also, don't be surprised if you get a warning for your conduct.

Dude, I'm surprised that you're still allowed here in this forum. I was curious and decided to look up your history. I just read some of your threads/posts and was shocked to see how vulgar you were and still continue to be. Please grow up already or seek some anger management counceling.

One more thing ... to say that an Evo isn't a Lancer or to ignore the Lancer name on an Evo would be wrong. All USDM Evos derive from Lancers. It is a form of a Lancer. Even the best Lancer of them all, the Lancer WRC05, is labeled as a Lancer, simply a Lancer WRC05. There aren't even any "Evolution" badges or titling featured or associated with the WRC car.

You have some serious issues, dude. You really "drove me up the wall" with your attitude and lack of comprehension.

Actually some STI drivers do get annoyed when they see STi and their wing on a WRX. Now I'm not saying all WRX shouldn't put anything STI on their car but I'm sure there are TONG of people that just get the wing and the badge and nothing else just to make it look like the STI model, and that's what I'm talking about. My best friend has an STI and he hates "fake" ones.

Are there any differences between what we get here as the G35, and what they have in Japan as the skyline? They look the same, but are the engines and drivetrain the same. Does the Skyline have more power, better performance?

Ive seen a few mustang GT-R 5.0 cars here in indiana, also a pathfinder GT-R, and once a saturn GT-R. its amazing how auto zone can transform a car with a single affordable badge.

Yes they are the same and no the Japanese car does not have better power or more performance. Skyline does not equal GT-R V-Spec.

I don't agree. I would feel as if it were fraud if it were an FQ badge, but the car is indeed an Evolution VIII or IX, it isn't like people who use those badges are changing the name of their car, its just a different way of saying/showing the same exact thing. How does that badge necessarily imply that it is a European spec car? You just acknowledged that our badge is the same as the JDM car, by your logic Mitsubishi should have given us a different badge because our car isn't the same as theirs and they were wrong for doing it.

To me, I could care less if the a G35 owner puts Skyline GT on their car, or Fairlady on a Z or GTO on a 3000GT because the cars are the same. You can split hairs and talk about seats, ECUs, radios, maybe different turbos and injectors or whatever but to me that's just stuff for geeks and fanboys to rave over. Its fun to talk about, but to get into heated arguments over is ghey IMO.

If a guy takes a US Civic DX hatch, swaps in a B18C5, imports Mugen parts, does a 5-lug conversion and wants to put a Civic Type R badge on, it doesn't bother me, I think he's earned it. Even though I know a real CTR is right hand drive, has a B16B, and was never sold here. Maybe a real imported CTR owner would be pissed, but hey. Same thing goes for a 240SX with an sr20. Sylvia badges or 180sX would be A-OK to me.

I'm not so sure what I would think about a kitted Mirage with an AWD conversion. I guess I am being a bit hypocritical because it is so close to home, but most cars are just an engine swap away from their JDM counterparts. The Mirage and Lancer need not only a drivetrain swap, but a stiffer chassis too. Its probably easier to convert older Mirages into Evos then later models, so if someone does it convincingly enough I guess an Evo badge to put the cherry on top would be fine.

to my knowledge the USDM badges say evolution on them... when you change to a UK badge it still says evolution, not something else. all you're doing is changing size, location and font.
