false badging

Do a lot of lancer peeps put the UK evolution badges on their cars too?

It is a skyline. Skyline and GT-R are two different models. My friend has the same extact badge on his G35 and ive seen others do the same. Personally, I wouldn't do that, but it actually looks good on the trunk.

We put MMC badge which stands for "Mitsubishi Motors Corporation"
I saw a silver G35 in dallas the other day while pumping gas. As i looked at his car i noticed the front grill had a nissan symbol instead of infinity. The skyline poped to my head. But i knew it couldnt be because the steering wheel was on the right side. If im correct jdm is on the passenger side. I did not get to see the rear badges though.

No WRx owner ever has done it with STI badging either.
I think the skyline on the trunk looked almost exactly the same actually. looked like same color and font as the infniiti one, but im' not sure.
Received the following private message today, in regards to my response to the sender's comment about me here in this thread. It's titled, "newb". I'll let it speak for itself.

I don't agree. I would feel as if it were fraud if it were an FQ badge, but the car is indeed an Evolution VIII or IX, it isn't like people who use those badges are changing the name of their car, its just a different way of saying/showing the same exact thing. How does that badge necessarily imply that it is a European spec car? You just acknowledged that our badge is the same as the JDM car, by your logic Mitsubishi should have given us a different badge because our car isn't the same as theirs and they were wrong for doing it.
To me, I could care less if the a G35 owner puts Skyline GT on their car, or Fairlady on a Z or GTO on a 3000GT because the cars are the same. You can split hairs and talk about seats, ECUs, radios, maybe different turbos and injectors or whatever but to me that's just stuff for geeks and fanboys to rave over. Its fun to talk about, but to get into heated arguments over is ghey IMO.
If a guy takes a US Civic DX hatch, swaps in a B18C5, imports Mugen parts, does a 5-lug conversion and wants to put a Civic Type R badge on, it doesn't bother me, I think he's earned it. Even though I know a real CTR is right hand drive, has a B16B, and was never sold here. Maybe a real imported CTR owner would be pissed, but hey. Same thing goes for a 240SX with an sr20. Sylvia badges or 180sX would be A-OK to me.
I'm not so sure what I would think about a kitted Mirage with an AWD conversion. I guess I am being a bit hypocritical because it is so close to home, but most cars are just an engine swap away from their JDM counterparts. The Mirage and Lancer need not only a drivetrain swap, but a stiffer chassis too. Its probably easier to convert older Mirages into Evos then later models, so if someone does it convincingly enough I guess an Evo badge to put the cherry on top would be fine.

Allow me to stress a few key points in my post that's roughing up many feathers here.
I'm quoting myself here: "I mean, in a way ("in a way" - implies different views or interpretations), all you guys with the "E V O L U T I O N VIII/IX" badging on your USDM Evos are no better than the Type R badged USDM Civic or the GT-R badged G35 because technically our Evos and the other markets' Evos are not the exact same cars (they are, in fact, not the exact same cars) ... there are degrees of fraud ("degrees", as in a spectrum or from a little to a lot or levels of)."
And to take you out of context here for a moment (w/o damage or misinterpretation, mind you):

If MMC decides to badge their USDM Evos similiarly to their JDMs, then that's on them. It's their product. They make the rules. Comparing what MMC does and a customizer does is not the same.

A Civic DX is still a Civic DX no matter how many parts I pile on it. A 240SX will still be a 240SX no matter what, If I run a VIN decoder on either car it will read as such. So even if it is a very well done conversion, it should still be disclosed as such whenever the vehicle is sold. IF a person puts a Type-R badge on it, and claims it is the real deal, then yes that would be the fraud you speak of.
But if I do the same to any Evo it will say Evo. Our cars are either Evolution VIII's or IX's and those badges don't imply anything different. It has nothing to do with the options or equipment they may or may not have or what country they came from.
It would be fraud if someone is trying to pass a USDM car off as an EDM car, but that's why there is a VIN. I also don't think that's the reason people put them on their cars. They just look a hell of a lot better IMO. I want one, but not so people will think I have S-AYC. Or think that my Evo is any better then what people can buy from any American dealer.
"GPTourer", awesome.
We agree to disagree. Thanks for expressing your opinions with respect. I do understand what you're saying, too. Opinions, opinions, opinions, it's all a matter of opinion.
Did I read that someone said that STi is a car and not a company?
Subaru Technica International is a company the same as Ralliart is one. If someone has a subaru Forester with STi stickers/badges, I dont see a problem with it as long as there are actually sti parts onboard. Same for Ralliart. Ralliart stickers/emblems can apply to any car in the Mitsubishi lineup as long as they have legit parts.
However, seeing a ralliart or sti sticker on a chevy is just wrong.
(apologies in advance for stating the obvious here.)
