If you take off the stock antenna, obviously you will lose standard radio. What I did was to mount the Sirius/XM antenna (I have had both) on the roof by the windshield and run the thin wire down the weather stripping.

Yes, world's dirtiest TB Evo, I know.

Yep, dash mounting works fine too, although the sound would cut off sometimes when passing large trucks. That was with an old XM antenna; perhaps they are better now.

i have mine monted on the trunk just after the rear window(sirius) it is very small and looks fine. Given the stock antenna makes the car look like a RC car i dont think you would want to get rid of it, just go lower profile

Im' installing mine next week. have anyone installed the "Sirius SIR-ALP1 Satellite Radio for 2004-up Alpine " sirius tuner box yet? I didn't search for it yet, but since this thread popped up I thought I'd see where others were mounting the tuner box.

I ran one like that for my gf's car and she's having issues with tiny tiny scratches under the magnet.

mine is on my rear deck inside my car, no reception problems at all. the wire is routed along the speaker surround on the deck, can't tell it's there other than the antenna itself

oh yea, on my last car i ran the antenna to the roof as suggested in the instructions, it didn't look good (not terrible cause the car was black) and i scratched the car when i was adjusting it because the magnet was so strong, it was tough to move without a lot of force. that's why i decided to go inside my car for this one
