a lot of vendors use product pictures from their distributors websites. So it is hard to decide whose fault this is... afterall, they are indeed selling a test pipe intended for EVO 8..not EVO 9.

I guess blame the picture?

yes and they also have disclaimers saying something to the effect of "picture may not be of actual product" .... and regardless if the pipe was for an 8 or 9, they did not send the CEL fix either... which is a screw in port intended to back out the 02 sensor just a bit.

Yes, if the picture is not the actual product, there should be a disclaimer that saids, otherwise, the consumer assumes that what is advertise is what will be sent.

they carry a lot of products other vendors dont, and there prices arent bad, but they need to pay better employees and raise the prices and especially the guy in charge of their website. they are also on the vendor's list for this site. and if you didnt know, most of the parts that fit the 8 fit the 9 with no problems...its practically the same car minus the mivec and a few minor issues. one of them being 02 sensor placement which would of made this pipe perfect

I called them and asked them to fix it...and they say helix doesnt make a pipe with a bung in it. i tell them i want a refund and they say i have to pay them a 30% restocking fee. I explained to them that the pipe they have pictured is not the actual pipe, they reply with its just a general picture and they are not responsible for it, its in there terms and agreements. i read them, and its not anywhere in there. I called them back and the new guy on the phone tells me that i ordered the wrong part and even though the picture shows a bung, thats not important, it says fits an 8 and thats what matters. HOPUP RACING IS A BUNCH OF LAME *** PEOPLE RUNNING A STORE. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND NOT DOING ANY BUSINESS WITH THEM REGARDLESS OF WHAT YOU ARE BUYING. Im taking this to my lawyer.... which, thanks to my EVO i keep one because of my tickets .... I'll keep you posted... just know that HOPUP did in no way try to resolve this situation properly and when confronted with their false advertising, they became rude and defensive and hung up the phone on me.

the first pic is what they pictured, the second is what they sent me
Although they seem to have mislead you, don't give up on the project. The O2 sensor bung is not needed in the TP because you already have it in the catback... Take a look, you already have an O2 sensor bung, it's right there where your O2 sensor is ..... Just unplug the O2 sensor, screw in your CEL eliminator and replace the O2 sensor right back where it was....

Actually, you should be happy you don't have a bung in the TP. You would just have to buy an O2 sensor just to plug it with. Other wise you'd have a huge exhaust leak

I have had no problems with Hop Up Racing so far. I have made multiple purchases from there including my exhaust, turbo timer, electronic boost controller, blow off valve and more. All with good service, price and shipping experiences.

I may do something that some don't. I usually call the vendor before I make a purchase and I do this for a few reasons.

1) I usually get a better price
2) I verify what I am getting (color was a big thing for me on my Blitz electronics)
3) It feels more like a purchase (personal thing I guess )

This has no offense to the original poster I understand where he is coming from

(I had the same issue with a different vendor regarding headlights and how they would work. I was lucky he took them back at all. He wasn't going to even take the BRAND NEW lights back that DIDN'T do anything that the website claimed. I did pay a restocking fee but better than eating $700+ on a set of headlights that don't work)

but from what I am seeing you got the NEWER version of the Helix test pipe and from other individuals its actually better that you don't have the bung in there anyways. Have you even tried to install this? The headache you are having doesn't seem to be worth the $5-6 fix for the mechanical cel-fix. (I know principal of the thing)

Like I said no offense and I feel your frustration, I hope you get everything resolved.

I then asked them how the CEL does not come on then and they replied with they sell these all the time, its designed that way. So helix i guess has a design of a straight thru pipe that doesnt cause the cel to come on ? we all know the truth, that you need something else to get rid of the CEL. Either way the point is false advertising... wrong picture on a product at the same time advertising a no cel product and didnt even include the part for the catback for that. HOPUP RACING IS SHADY. You guys can order from them if you want but after talkin to a few of you on here and a couple friends in my office, im not the only one they have ripped off and then give a very rude and unprofessional attitude about it afterwards
I see what you mean. You wanted that specific product that they showed the picture of... I understand your frustration. It seems that the vendor could save themselves a lot of grief by working with you. As I explained before, the CEL cure is nothing but an extension of the bung so the O2 sensor is not so close to the exhaust.
It's a very simple thing really, and could be easily implemented with what they sold you... Still, you are right. You ordered one thing and got another. They should refund your money or send you what parts you need. It's pretty stupid of them to get so much bad press for a few measly bucks
