I love my '05 RS. I really haven't missed power locks and power windows that much. The only thing I'm over is the lack of sound deadening. It's tough to even hear people on the cell when I'm driving, even if use an ear piece.

Are you hard core
I drive a 2004 Weightless White RS. I bought this car not because it was cheap but because it is pure. In fact I paid way too much buy I knew what I wanted. If you are a true, focused driver the RS is for you. Yes you may bounce and shake but you have complete control over your vehicle. Breaking can be much more precise with no ABS if used properly. You can learn your limits and learn what you can and can't do with the car. The 2004 is pre-ACD but also the first Evolution in the USA to feature three limited slip differentials. This car only has a computer for the engine and the SRS. This makes the car very consistent. With no electronics interfering with how the drive train and brakes work you are much better able to predict how the vehicle will act when it is taken to its limits. With a few modifications and some good tires, you may find your self doing things you didn’t know you could do in a car.
With the certain few modifications to my car it is a very good daily driver. Its no 400WHP but if you drive it just right you can get around pretty good. **** the new 9MR is bad *** though.

See, that was the first thing that attracted me to this car along with the price. It was like I was getting a better car for cheaper. I want to drive one though, to really see how it is for myself. I think that this is the way that I will go though. Plus I like the fact that the RS flies under the radar so to speak. With a radio install, i think that this would be the car for me!
It's definately a wolf in sheep's clothing, so to speak. I'm 110% OK with the fact that most people (including boy racers and cops) see the RS and think it's just a base model Lancer. Fast is what your car does, not how it looks or how much attention it attracts.
The reason I went with the RS is because I like to tinker on my cars. I can't think of a better car on the planet than an Evo RS for that. It's truly a blank canvas. You've got all the important performance stuff but very few creature comforts.
Some other things I've gotten a little tired of...
- manual side mirrors
- only 3 settings for windshield wiper speeds
- manual locks
- manual windows
- no trunk lining
- endless modifications "wish list"

If you want the RS, stop worrying about silly things like power windows and locks and little remote key fobs. Just drive it. I love mine. Yeah it makes lots of weird noises and the tranny will probably never be "smooth". I can also attest to no one knowing what the heck it is. It is the most unassuming-looking performance car around. Of course, throw on a Voltex wing, and that goes out the window.
hey all you RS owners if you like theway your trunk is stock than you can make the interior match with a few hrs and patience. I removed the carpet and just left the floor mats. The car seems to turn better. The carpeting has alot of sound deadening underneath it. If anybody does this as well let me know if its in my head. you can hear the car more.

When I saw an article on the RS in 2004 I knew it was the car for me. There were only 3 red ones available on the east coast when I was looking and so I had to wait for one to be delivered. I knew what was important to me in the Evo and what wasn't. The RS cuts out all the crap and leaves a leaner, meaner version with all the good stuff.
I did add a radio but, to be honest with you, I spend most time just enjoying the whine of the turbo, the growl of the exhaust and the diminishing view of some unsuspecting (insert favorite victim) in my mirror.
If you want amenities then this ain't the EVO for you. If you want raw driving pleasure then this is your beast.

The no sound deadening thing is way overrated. I've ridden in both and could'nt really tell a difference. These are by no means "quiet" cars so what do you expect? The stock yokos are not quiet tires either.. The only thing that can get annoying is if you have kids making sure the doors are all locked. I put a radio and speakers in mine for less than 300 total and it sounds WAY better than a stock one. Also I did NOT want the stock wing so I knew the IX RS was right for me. Loving it so far.
