Oil temp sensor oil leak?

I just installed my gauges (boost, oil pres, oil temp). The directions that came with the gauges said not to use teflon tape on the oil temp sensor. So I followed the directions and now I have a slight oil leak. So my question is if I take out the oil temp sensor how much oil will come out? Because I just changed my oil and I'd be a little pissed if I had to change it again.

These are the directions I followed: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=108075

I havent jacked my car up to see where exactly it is coming from, but I believe it's the oil temp sensor because thats the only piece I didnt use teflon tape on. If it isn't my oil temp sensor and my oil press. instead, how much would leak out? Both are near my oil filter.

Don't do it. I would say if it is tapped into the oil filter block like mine and the pic in the instructions, about 4 qts will come out. You can alway drain and tape connection reinstall and put in clean oil but not change the filter. Save $5.

So I have to buy new oil again? 4 qt's is just about all of it.

Anyone know what I should do? Because the oil in side of it is new. Do I drain and reuse the drained oil?

Why take the chance? Just bite the bullet and spend the $20 on more oil. If I were in your situation (and I may be soon, when I install my oil temp adapter) I would just change my oil again.

see here's the thing...the amount of oil that will come out depends on whether you have anything to plug the hole once you take the sensor out...if you have nothing to plug the hole, well all your oil will come out...and before you remove the sensor make sure you find where the oil is leaking from, because if it's not leaking from the sensor your car might have other issues...just jack up the car and have a look...if it's coming from the sensor find something to plug the hole...honestly, like i said before you're better off buying 4 more quarts and doing it right the first time...

damn alright. You are saying that all the oil will leak out from the oil filter pan not the oil pan itself? I dont think that would be the case because the oil pan sits lower then the oil filter. We shall see.

I am pretty positive its from the oil temp sensor, the only part i didnt use teflon tape on. I will check tomorrow it's too cold right now.

OT: do you still have the gauges in your car in your sig? How do you like them?

oh yeah!! the gauges look real sweet, but i'm gonna change them ut for the autometer nexus series...the autotechnics are innacurate, specifically the boost gauge... check hem out here. http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2190771

if you use teflon tape and tighten it tight , you wont have a leak
