why the US IX is both a true Evo and the best model around

The fastest evos are all in the states .. and they dont have any of that crap.. kent jordan's evo is hands down the fastest lapping road course evo and AMS has the fastest drag evo.. both of which are 03-04 evos with the much more simple driveline. All that stuff makes the stock evo IX a great car.. but it might prevent reaching the levels of performance that the other models have had or just add to the cost at least when repairs are needed.. its not really optimal equipment for racing the evo IMO..

Parts from your stand point would be a good buy, cause of the exchange rate, although I haven't looked at the rate lately.
They would basically be half price for you.
depending on the parts getting them shipped back to the UK is where they will get you, Shipping is expensive, obviously depending on the weight and customs.
So by the end of it all you may only save a little bit.
Good luck
Just looking for some carbon fibre bits and bobs as tuning will all be done here

its going in while im in the US so should be about 390bhp 374lb torque on my return so looking forward to that

You got any pics of your car samdriver

Quote: That's the RS2, not the RS. RS2 is the high level trim for LHD markets outside of north america. There's no GSR trimline for LHD, at least not the GSR's that Britain and Japan get.
There is a GSR in Japan. And there is a RS 6 speed, RS 5 speed and the high trim level RS2.

Quote: That's a tautology. The SAYC doesn't make the car oversteer, it transfers torque from left to right. I could go into details on how it works but the goal is not oversteer, it's to counter the yaw moment so the car follows the path determined by the angle of the front wheels. The goal is neutral handling. A RS will oversteer more than a car with SAYC.
I was explaining it in laymens terms.
The Evo stock has a tendency to understeer. The S-AYC transfers torge to make the more neutral. To make a car that understeers neutral, you have to add oversteer.

Understeer----------------------------Neutral-----------------------------Oversteer
^^to go from this end to neutral, you have to add oversteer.

I've never heard that you have to have the S-AYC sysetem bleed every 4k miles, but if you say so I guess its right.

I mean you have a car with S-AYC and you know everything about it.

Actually, the SAYC promotes neutral handling, which is the fastest way around a track. Go in too hot, it transfers torque to the outer wheel and tightens your line, then if you lift and oversteer, it transfers torque to the other side. "Adding Oversteer" is a misnomer because Oversteer is an absolute term- you're either pushing or you're loose. A car that understeers less is still understeering not "oversteering more". The early reviews of the USDM evo 8 pointed out that the car was easier to get sideways because the AYC wasn't correcting.

Bear in mind that I'm in no way saying that I am faster without SAYC, I'm sure at my current level SAYC would make me faster on a track. But reading the lancerregister forums about AYC failures and how the dealer requires a special machine (MUT-III) to bleed the system every 4500 miles at a cost of almost $300 per service, it doesn't seem all that great to me. I also think I'm learning more as a driver because let's face it, if you're driving on public roads at a speed where SAYC is going to make any difference at all, you're an idiot. The track is the only place where you would really see a difference, and I think there the SAYC would make me look better than I actually am.

all I know is I had a blast taking the RS IX around the track at Gingerman and it is sooo nice to drive and EASY to drive compared to my 993... basicly, I beat my best lap time in my 993 in my 3rd lap in the EVO IX RS... YIKES!!!!

Quote: I just wanted to say that Mitsubishi did a great job specing out the IX for the US and despite what the griefers say, it's not a watered down car in any way. Why?

The USDM Evo IX MR is the best combination of the GT and GSR trims. We get the more durable turbo, the six speed, the BBS rims, and the aluminum roof with the race-proven RS drivetrain. SAYC may be cool, but we get a 5 year warranty. ( fixed everything that went wrong with my 03, including some minor faults with trim which ended up being very expensive to fix). Also, not sure how psyched I'd be about changing my diff fluid every 2K miles. Some very reputable sources say that the IX also produces around 50 more hp at the flywheel than the 03-04 models.

So we lose the intercooler sprayer and climate control? I've heard Dave Buschur himself declare the sprayer to be a 'worthless piece of junk' and I've always spent more time trying to 'trick' an auto climate control into blowing the temperature of air that I want than I would with a standard manual HVAC setup.

For a car that I want to live with everyday, maintain myself, and take to an HPDE occasionally, I'd be hard-pressed to find anything better than the car I have today. Anyone else agree with me?
Because it happens to be the Evo that you bought. I used to read a thread a day, all 05' about how 05's were the best evos ever... Can't wait for the 07' SE cuz guess what it's an evolution. My 03' is paid, making it far superior to your 9 IMO
